I think it can be useful to share this with you to show how I'm

usually editing my photos... Most of the time, I'm simply trying

to remove all the little imperfections from the original pic and I

also spend some time improving the lights, tones, colors and

the general composition of the photo. In the above case, it's a

simple "selective coloring" manual edit. I also highlighted the

pilgrim's silhouette.

I really always want to preserve the "essence" and "spirit"

of the original shot. All the edits I do in post-production

are only meant to express an idea or a message (usually

explained in the title or description of my posts on Flickr).

Global warming in the summer.

In shadowy space, in the loneliness of the final frontier, well out of Hubble’s reach both sweet and savoury comestibles spin around their own axis. Are these, in the interstellar emptiness spinning tops, which seem to float in-between dimension and space, snacks of the Starchild, canteen waste of the Imperial fleet or was the teleport perhaps acting up agin? All possibilities are infinitely improbable, ou quoi Valérian?

Recently I visited the campus of The University of Arizona, here in Tucson. I got inspired by some of the cool looking architecture. I take my camera phone with me everywhere I go. I created this image using a bunch of tricky editing techniques.. I use GIMP image editing software because it's FREE... Photoshop is way too expensive..

It was a shy duck - hiding in the bushes just peacefully watching the sunset over the marsh when suddenly FLASH, a photographer took its picture and the sun came out from behind the clouds.

Not satisfied with my previous picture I thought this up while trying to fall asleep. Not quite as good as dreaming it, but this is as close as I get. Its more like it, but I'm still not quite satisfied....and I'm getting sleepy.............

I spent days trying to make a very ordinary picture of the background trees more interesting until this snowy owl flew into my picture.

Purple sunshine? Maybe...well, you never know. Last of the sunshine trees I'm posting. If you're into other colors please see the previous 3 images.

Took a bit of cropping, cutting & pasting, and playing God but I finally settled on the two sunsets with a bird added for good measure. OK, this is a bit much, but you wouldn't be looking at my origional picture which didn't even have one sunset....or a bird. The trees and house were actually there if that makes you feel better.

I have a haunted camera that sees what I can't . I'm always surprised when I download the shots. Here's a good example.

Image taken during Paris tour in 2001.

I know it looks like its floating, but this foxglove really is attached to a stem..... somewhere (it got lost in the grey) :-)

I made 8 different verisons of this picture, and after looking back on them I liked this one, the first, the best. Sometimes more is less.

I liked the mess of trees picture, but for a long time could not make more than a mess of the picture. To brighten it up I added a sunset and it looked better.

The World War 1 soldier stops to let his horse graze. Way back then the horses were smaller, and the soldiers were just sillouettes.

I started off following this tutorial: www.tutorialized.com/tutorial/Set-a-Peaceful-Woodlands-Sc...

There are some differences compared to the tutorial, first I chose a different image of a woodland path; I wanted you to feel like you are walking through the woods. The tutorial has an image of a deer that you place in the scene. I wanted my deer to be more sneaky (as deers are), almost hiding in the bushes and trees.

I created a similar image containing snow which in hindsight feel is too much for the image and requires a more subtle approach. Finishing touches include an Iris Blur and then using Google Nik Software Analog Pro 2 (Vintage Camera preset) to add some light leaks and alter the tones. It gives the image a more magical approach (well one hopes).
