2010 was a fantastic winter for snow. It creates a magical landscape. This image was taken at Edinburgh in December 2010.
Created for Rubys Wax Lyrical Challenge 26

A small AI experiment based on my own landscape photo.
The first image is an AI-enhanced version of the original scene; in the second, a woman was added and integrated using generative AI.
What interests me most here is not the location, but the transformation of a quiet landscape into a new visual narrative.
The image combines: a Tree Brush: pepsized.com/19-nature-silhouettes-trees-grass-brushes and also a moon: webdesignerlab.com/resources/night-sky-brushes-vol-2 - the gradient is part of a Sky Gradient collection: www.graphicsfuel.com/2012/11/44-realistic-sky-gradients-f...
After placing the tree and moon, I created the reflection and water texture.
I used Nik Software Color Efex Pro to subdue the gradient and to darken the surrounding edge just a little. I quite like doing these rather peaceful images.
From the top you can see the ocean, the sand dunes, and the marsh. The wind up there was very refreshing, too.
I found this dramatic tree in Castle Eden Dene. I played around with Analog Efex Pro from Google Nik Software Collection to create this magical effect.
Started out as a montage of 4 sunsets all at once, but this bird flew into my picture and ruined everything. Shoo!
I'm developing a Lightroom presets tool to help photographers edit images easier and faster. Yes, kind of like VSCO, but instead of mimicing film effects, this preset package is just the result of hundreds and hundreds of editing hours in Lightroom.
I'm sure others taking photos wouldn't mind doing things quicker either; I'm currently looking to share my presets with the photo-taking world and am looking for people to test them with me.
See more at www.presetr.com, and if you're intrested in helping to develop the presets, fill in the beta testing form!
Although it was mid afternoon the rain darkened the sky and the lights came on. And along came this girl....
My daughter took 6 pictures from the top of the Empire State Building in New York City and I combined them into this one image. Not the way I planned it to come out, and far from perfect but it somewhat looks like what I was trying to do.
I really liked the origional photo of the beach houses in the fog, and spent a long time trying to make it more dramatic. Other versions were lighter, darker, colorier, with owls, and with a beach scene on the right. But none worked very well, so I stuck with the basic shot. Not dramatic, but I like it.
