Oh Flickr, it's been far too long. I don't even know if people use this much anymore, or if the people that use to follow me will even be interested in my work anymore. For some reason the other day I was editing some photos I was behind on and Flickr just popped into my mind and I got the sudden urge to come look at all my old work, which led to me wanting to start posting photos again, which in turn led to me writing this. Haha.

The last photo I posted was of me and my pregnant belly. I have since had my beautiful son. He is my complete world and I never knew I could love something/someone this much. I'm sure you'll eventually be seeing his face soon enough...and probably a lot as I am quite obessed with taking an obscene amount of pictures of him. :) Here's to hopefully getting back into this photography world of Flickr and I hope you've all been amazing. I look forward to catching up on all of your work since I've been gone. I have a lot of photos to go through. So off I go.

This is the view from my new home

10 Things I like about my new home already...

1.) The Lack of automatic gun fire every-night....(Yes, this is no exaggeration) When I was packing the truck to leave, the I could set my watch to the rat-a-tat-tat tat of AK-47 fire every night, that made me sick to my stomach and happy to leave! BTW that was a good neighborhood where cops and firemen had chosen to live in. (Good Grief)

2.) The air smells cleaner

3.) The REI here is ASTOUNDING

4.) Their (scratch that) OUR football team makes it to the playoffs

5.) There is a living breathing growing artist community here you can almost touch and feel

6.) Every view is a stunning mountain view

7.) A Downtown that actually has major businesses fighting to move in it.

8.) The main civic decision isn't if the city will ever "make a come back" it's "can we handle the growth?"

9.) A strong "flickrite" contingency here :)

10.) For every home a fire place!

Bonus*** NO one calls it the damn "murder capital of the US."

Things I don't like...

Nothing really except...Who's the genius who decided that switch for the bathroom light belongs in the hallway not the bathroom? (midnight "runs" in the dark well... are kinda crappy :^P )

So it goes, I'm now Seattle native... God Bless

I'm back!

I popped in yesterday for the first time in two weeks to briefly check in and try to deal with my Flickr mail and read comments.

I've always held myself to a high standard of commenting on contacts photos (mostly because I find it fun, but also because I felt I had to). If this time off has taught me anything it's that I need to take this a little less seriously. I am excited to get back to viewing your photos, but I probably won't see everything you post or comment on each and every shot.

All that said, I am happy to be back. It was EXTREMELY difficult for me to stay away (especially the first few days), which only confirmed my addiction. Hopefully I will be a bit more balanced in my Flickr-ing from here on out, but you never know.

Hope you're all well, and I'm looking forward to checking in with you.

Its been a while flickr, hasn't it.

Today I updated my account to "pro" and sent away for a wireless remote to go with my new Canon 5D mark ii. I was so afraid I would be gone forever and that the fire photography lit in my ass had burned out.

With messages in my inbox from models and potential clients waiting for a response, I grab my camera and a tripod and start shooting self portraits. No remote. No lights... well an external flash, but thats it. Back to the basics of where it all began for me. That forgotten excitement of getting that great shot came back. It came to me through a series of self portraits I did a couple nights ago. With that fire roaring and that urge to go out and shoot, made me realize that the most important subject for a photographer is his or herself. Like a landcape, we are changing constantly. Every second, every hour is new. Self portraits give us the opportunity to experiment, and express emotions that we feel and may not be able to evoke in others. A time to play with light, makeup, ideas, and whatever else that comes to mind. This is not a form of narcissism but expression.

Self portraits is where it all started for me, and It gave me the tools to point my lens at others.

Here I am.

...I'm home, safe and sound. It's one thing to not Flickr voluntarily...its quite another when you don't have a choice. I missed being here, but I am here now...and here's Luther Vandross singing:

...my friends, I hope you have a wonderful week ahead. :~}

7 Days of Shooting

Theme: Glass

Telephoto Tuesday

Well I'm back. so much has happened during my hiatus. But more on that later.

I had my first model shoot after a long time this past weekend. I'd postponed and cancelled so many during the spring due to all the rain, but now I have 3 back to back, so I'm really excited!! This was my first full production shoot, with a stylist, model, MUA, and hair stylist, and (of course) me, the photographer. It was so much better working with a whole crew of people. It makes the shoot way more fun and much easier on me.

I'll be posting more stuff from this shoot over the coming days once I have them edited. I personally think that this was one of the worst shots from our shoot.

I'd also like to give credit where credit is due. This concept is NOT mine. This particular shot was inspired by something Lara Jade had done a long time ago (hers is WAAAAAAAYY better). She's certainly my role model when it comes to portraiture. Thanks LJ, for the inspiration.

My lovely daughter the way she wants to look right now.

I think it's great!

Thanks for all the kind words during my break, I really appreciate it.

Still have limited time, but I guess I miss you all.

Back online tonight!

Parmesan Risotto with fillet mignon. Risotto cooked with cheese broth, the mignon with tomato sauce, red wine, pepper, garlic, onion, herbs, paprika, thyme, balsamic and shoyu.

Back from yet another course and still not picked my camera up. Its probably rusted away by now.

i promise i have a really good excuse for being off flickr for so long:

i was run over by a truck. really!

just my foot.

it's been in really bad shape for the past few weeks ~ i had surgery, pain meds, etc... but i'm starting to get back into normal life. i'll be on crutches for a while, and recovery will last a while after that (my foot was crushed) but i'm thankful to be alive and recovering!

So this video is kind of a shit show you guys I am so sorry. But I guess this is my announcement video of being back on this site, eh? :)

I had just this weird feeling of wanting to come back. This video will probably get no views and everyone hates me and I'm sorry! But life got so whoa these past couple of years and I've definitely grown up a lot.

I don't wanna say too much right now because I'll probably post a real like picture later.

But omg hi :')

Lyrics from Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy because I am obsessed with this song today XD

Alright guys I'm back! This weekend took forever, I'm sore from snowboarding and Chicago was awesome. And now I'm going to start homework =P

I feel so bad because I haven't responed to any mail or done anything other than upload D= but I promise that I'm catching up tonight!

And this morning I wanted to go to my new location (Which happens to be a giant frozen pond in the middle of a forest!) but it was warmer today and as soon as I stepped onto the ice I heard a massive crack and decided that it would be a bad idea...but on the brightside I found this spot instead XD

Happy Sunday flickr!

Secret Number Thirteen: I love climbing trees. They are the best things in the world.

If you look here my nose will look remotely normal. I promise.

And thank you so much mccannta for the testimonial. That was one of the greatest things I think anyone has ever said to me, and I mean that with all my heart.

imback :)

I'm back!!

We've arrived safely here in southern California, and are settled into our new house (which we are just renting, but hell, it's a house!). It's weird how fast this has all happened, but things are going as well as can be expected.

I took some self-portraits the other day for the first time in weeks. This is one of them. Also, this is my first self-portrait session at our new house.

It's good to be back on Flickr!! I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone. :)

Linguine with limone sauce (lemon sauce) and instead of grated cheese, a super tasty pistachio farofa (pistachios blended and mixed with parmesan, parsley, white pepper, olive oil and garlic). Great combination to replace the standard cheese on top of the pasta

4 años después... a ver cuánto me dura el nuevo amor.

Por lo pronto, a ponerse al día.

Snow can wait

I forgot my mittens

Wipe my nose

Get my new boots on

I get a little warm in my heart

When I think of winter

I put my hand in my father's glove

I run off

Where the drifts get deeper

Sleeping beauty trips me with a frown

I hear a voice

"Your must learn to stand up for yourself

Cause I can't always be around"

He says

When you gonna make up your mind

When you gonna love you as much as I do

When you gonna make up your mind

Cause things are gonna change so fast

All the white horses are still in bed

I tell you that I'll always want you near

You say that things change my dear

I surrendered to the call of the snow in the mountains to come out and get a photo or two. The clouds kept me out.

Can't You See - the Marshal Tucker Band

I'm gonna take a freight train down at the station, Lord

I don't care where it goes

Gonna climb a mountain, the highest mountain, Lord

And gonna jump off, ain’t nobody gonna know

Can't you see, oh, can't you see,

What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me

Can't you see, oh, can't you see

What that woman, been doin' to me

I'm gonna find me a hole in the wall,

I’m gonna crawl inside and die

’Cause my lady, now a mean old woman, Lord

Never told me goodbye

Can't you see, oh, can't you see,

What that woman she been doin' to me

Can't you see, oh, can't you see,

What that woman, she been doin' to me

I’m gonna buy me a ticket as far as I can,

I ain't never comin' back

I’m gonna take me that south-bound, all the way to Georgia now,

‘Till the train it run out of track

Can't you see, oh, can't you see,

What that woman, she been doin' to me

Can't you see, oh, can't you see,

What that woman, what she been doin' to me

Staying home this summer, will plant one of those big showy West coast displays. Found some wonderful GIANT coleus in really great colors, one of which was burnt orange splashed with small spatters of green and burgundy. I absolutely loved it, even tho' its a different colorway than I usually have in my garden. Had a hard time trying to find the right flowers and finally found these. The are doing very well, and I love the colors. They look like little roses. Heather, see what I mean?
