Daan Roosegaarde created a light art project for the Afsluitdijk. Darkness lovers held their hearts. But the result is a subdued ode to the art deco elegance of the sluiceens.

From now on the lock buildings at the dike light up through headlamps of passing cars. The light art project 'Icon Afsluitdijk' has officially been opened. "In this way we wanted to strengthen the beauty of the Afsluitdijk," says designer Daan Roosegaarde. "I've looked at how I could emphasize what was already there."

Taken from a promenade nearby Kappa Bridge, Kamikochi Highland, Japan. The rolling tall peaks are the Hotakas, which view gets an international acclaim. Alas, the ridgeline running toward Mt West Hotaka gets hidden in the clouds, yes, Mt Okuho barely visible through the cloud, with happy hums of the visitors everywhere today.

More playing about...the scooter believe it or not, is part of a cruet set, I love scooters and this was brought as a present.

I've isolated the scooter and applied a slight Fractalius filter effect to it and then pasted this over another iconic image.

An iconic shot of an iconic structure, this head on picture of the Hungarian Parliament building has been replicated a million times over and we weren't going to miss or opportunity . . . even if it did mean entering a fenced off construction site~! Gothic and neo-Renaissance architecture collide to create this work of art made from over 40 million limestone bricks. A large red star disgraced the dome tower while Budapest struggled under Soviet rule, but was promptly removed in 1990. Sadly, the architect of this jewel - Imre Steindl - went blind and passed away before his plans brought the Parliament building to completion in 1904.

Thor's Well at Cape Perpetua at golden hour. From our coach, Cape Perpetua was fifty-two miles north. I noticed that the weather would favor a possible golden hour opportunity while the tide was in. We jumped in the Jeep and made a mad dash for it, arriving just minutes ahead of the sun dropping below the horizon. I took several shots of the well just in case we might never get there again during this unique moment. Fessing up: I took the liberty of processing this particular image with a oil-on-canvass texture.

Thanks so much for stopping by. It means a lot and is always appreciated. Best to you!

Eilean Donan Castle is one of the most iconic images of Scotland. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic mountain scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most visited and important attractions in the Scottish highlands.

The famed Pepsi-Cola sign in Long Island City, Queens, NY. I took this during a photographer meetup in Long Island City last month. This is from 3 brackets at -2/0/+2. Tonemapped in Photomatix, denoised with Topaz Denoise, minor adjustments in Topaz Adjust, and a little sharpening in CS4. I had a rough time with the noise in the sky on this one, but this is what I finally settle on.

The "road" to Crystal Mill is not for the faint in heart. Call it 4x4 ugly. This is especially true when you meet an oncoming vehicle and are then challenged to find a place where two vehicles can pass so closely that you can count the other driver's nose hairs.
