I am SO accident prone! I burnt my finger taking my hot dogs out of the oven. I was using a pot-holder and everything! It hurt SO bad!
This blood-filled mosquito was extracted from a cold drink, already stuck on an icecube on a sunny day in upstate New York. May be the most interesting picture I ever take.

The LIGO device is actually a giant interferometer with two 4 km arms; you see the tunnel of one of them here. In the tunnel there is a high vacuum tube, to let a laser beam propagate without any disturbance, to a mirror at the other end and back to the center again, where the two beams interfere. The interference should change temporarily when a gravitational wave passes. Such waves are supposed to be generated by heavy celestial objects (black holes, neutron stars etc.) which collide into eachother, or get spinning around eachother.
