In partnership with Destiny Magazine (DestinyConnect) and Destiny Man, we held an event to celebrate the inspirational men and women under 40 who made the #Powerof40 list! Some of them were alumni of U.S. cultural and educational exchange programs such as TechWomen, Fortune 500 Mentorship program and the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).

In its fifth year, this three-week International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) connects over 75 participants from 56 countries with their U.S. counterparts in Washington D.C., New York City, and small and mid-sized American cities. Participants gain an understanding of public safety and security issues from federal, state and local law enforcement officials, public officials, and social service and victim assistance providers. Together, they exchange ideas on how to expand international cooperation, uphold the rule of law, and defeat terrorism.

"A New Beginning" provides an opportunity to highlight and support business and social entrepreneurship while developing people-to-people relationships with American businesses. The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience this country firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts. Professional meetings reflect the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States.

 

Each year nearly 5,000 International Visitors come to the U.S. on the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). More than 200,000 International Visitors have engaged with Americans through the IVLP, including more than 500 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government.
