Recognizing that investing in women-owned small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is one of the best ways to accelerate economic and social growth, the U.S. Department of State brought 34 women entrepreneurs to the United States to develop business networks with their U.S. colleagues on the IVLP Women’s Entrepreneurship in the Americas (WEAmericas).

This project for 17 religious and community leaders who participated in a previous IVLP project on interfaith dialogue and religious freedom, will examine the role and impact of religion in society and explore opportunities to bridge gaps among faith groups throughout the world.

In its fifth year, this three-week International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) connects over 75 participants from 56 countries with their U.S. counterparts in Washington D.C., New York City, and small and mid-sized American cities. Participants gain an understanding of public safety and security issues from federal, state and local law enforcement officials, public officials, and social service and victim assistance providers. Together, they exchange ideas on how to expand international cooperation, uphold the rule of law, and defeat terrorism.

IVLP PRESERVATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE program, spring 2015:

As part of this program, participants got to examine best practices in arts management, including the curation of exhibits and the storage, restoration, and preservation of artifacts; explore research, innovation and technology in the field of cultural heritage preservation and management; discuss the design and management of open-air museums, including preservation methods; examine how public and private entities have effectively used cultural heritage to expand and enhance domestic and international tourism; visit diverse cultural heritage sites and museums to discuss educational programming and research.
