Imperata cylindrica 'Red Baron' is native to Japan. Japanese Blood Grass forms an upright clump of green leaves with striking blood red tips. As the season progresses, the foliage becomes more and more red, glowing nearly all-red in the fall. This grass rarely flowers. Height: 18-20 inches.
Hoogte: 50-60cm
Out at Osmington in Dorset and someone had been hard at work. Stone stacking has become very popular. Some call it art and fun others an eye sore and it can disturb the natural order of nature. Like most things less is more. Too many and the impact is lost and could lead damage to the environment. Nikon D750 Exp 1/200 @F11 18-35mm 3.5-4.5 @ 18mm ISO 160

This spectacular solo mangrove tree accompanied by a few rocks is the perfect recipe for that 'Zen' feeling. Sam, Dave, Kim & myself spent the morning in awe of this little beauty. The tide came in faster than anticipated & we had no option other than to leave or risk getting swamped & potentially drowning our cameras.
Happiness is a mental state of well-being characterized by positive emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. It doesn't hurt to feel it once in a while :)

This photo was taken on the day of that epic sunset afterglow at Porth Nanven, Cot Valley, St Just, Cornwall, a month ago.
I shot this as the sun set - just as the light show started kick off to the right of the frame. I bagged this one, then re-composed to take what would be my "2021 Cornwall Calendar" cover image!
This one has been sat on my hard drive collecting dust (that can happen, right?) It was only until I made myself process it (mostly in Lightroom) that it came to life. It turns out that I very much like this one - maybe it'll feature in the 2022 edition!
On one of my previous posts from this shoot, someone commented that the water looked like smoke (due to the slow shutter speed to capture the movement in the sea). So, I incorporated that into the title for this image!

An insect that always fascinated me, I've had many encounters with it this season. A challenging subject but I enjoyed a lot trying to make images of this hunter.
