Taken on the morning after an all nighter with Garry and Lockie. On the way home we came across some beautiful fields of yellow grasses, which contrasted nicely against the overcast skies.

There was a thin veil of clouds bothering me and my tripod is little shaky but I´m well pleased with the results.

In the middle of the forest stands this fascinating structure, which served as a private retreat for Duke Ernst II of Saxony-Altenburg in the early 20th century.
With the right light or special weather conditions, an impressive, atmospheric photo can be created here.
In February of last year, I visited the site with a clear image in mind, which I was able to successfully capture.
The wall provided a perfect leading line to the house, while the trees framed the building beautifully as the sun slowly disappeared behind the horizon

I was wanting to get a shot of Garrys tree but it was busy, so i found this one around the other side. I was joined by British Flickr member Jon Philpott we spent the evening shooting this tree to death.
High ISO shot (3200) in Zoo "Blijdorp" in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
The shot was taken from behind a safety glass window
Just an enlarged part of a Pigeon capture to show the level of detail my 'budget' Nikkor AF-S 200-500mm f5.6 ED lens can reveal.
Purchased about six years ago it was just under £1000 GBP and I took a gamble on it based on reviews and sample images. Unfortunately several people returned their copies, including the well known wildlife photographer Steve Perry from Backcountry Gallery, citing softness issues. Consequently it did concern me that I would have the same experience, though fortunately my unit has no obvious QC problems and has surprised me with it's optical acuity.
At 5.1 pounds (2.31 Kilograms) it's fairly big and heavy when coupled with my camera and grip, but I'm extending the shooting times progressively.

I have been genuinely surprised to see this image chosen for Explore, and extend my regards to all my fellow flickrerites who have viewed it and left their kind comments - Thank You!

Out on a evening walk and I came across these Cygnets in a dark corner of a small lake so I pushed up the ISO to see what was possible with my Canon DSLR. A very useable image with ISO2500 with no post-processing except for a crop.

Hard to get a good vantage point for this shot. Ended up with mud up to just below my knees. Got real lucky with the clouds!
