ISO 1000 5.6 1/10th… I had to get a little movement in the background. A small camera movement helped me out here big time! Snooted speedlight camera left.
my main emphasis with lighting these subjects was to drag the shutter to layer the background with ambient light. Subjects lit with low power speedlights.

These are kodak 2238 shot at ISO 80. I tried to get some variety indoor/outdoor/shadow etc. These are developed in Metol-Sulfite the second half of the roll used a different developer with different results. These are still dark BUT there is some cool potential here that is beyond normal 2238. (Artistically speaking).
I had some problem with the fix and these had to be washed and refixed. This is after the wash but before the refix.
Shot with nikon em and series e 50mm f/1.8 lens. very overcast days which adds to a bit of the surprise.
developed in metol - sulfite - ammonia developer described by Ed Lowe.
metol 9 gm
sulfite 25 gm
26% concentrated ammonia 3.7ml
ph 8.3
however, i only had household ammonia so 5 th 10%. I used 20ml but the ph was only 7.3 so I added 20 ml more then it was 7.6. so I added enough potassium hydroxide to bring it up to around 8.1.
developed at 80 degrees f (cooling to room temp) for 20 minutes. Agitation was 30 seconds of agitation to start and then 30 seconds every 3 minutes. seemed to work. fixed immediately in RA 4 rapid fix. washed and hung out to dry. we'll see how this goes in the morning.
California ISO Headquarters, Dreyfuss & Blackford Architects. #wedesignedthis
The California Independent System Operator moved into their new headquarters campus, ahead of schedule and right on budget. This was a visionary project for the non-profit ISO, which manages the electrical grid for the entire state of California. The over-arching goal in the new facility was to create a secure, innovative and energy efficient headquarters complex. A further design goal was to enhance the work environment so that California ISO becomes the “employer of choice” for engineering and technical staff in the region.
The site is a pristine, gently rolling savannah with a glade of nearly 100 native oaks. We carefully nestled the building into the natural site, preserving the native oak trees. Generous native landscape areas were also preserved and incorporated as passive security setbacks for the facility.
The complex was designed with three separate building elements: a wing for public functions, a wing for administrative offices, and a wing housing the essential services “mission critical” operations. A striking central lobby serves as a hub, linking the building elements, providing way-finding and security screening.
To demonstrate leadership by example, the project placed an emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability and in July 2011 earned a LEED Platinum rating – the highest rating possible - from the US Green Building Council. The building is designed with a particular focus on achieving energy efficiency and is projected to operate nearly 40% more efficiently than California’s restrictive Title 24 standards with nearly 20% of it’s annual power consumption being supplied by renewable energy from on-site photovoltaic arrays.

Nikon D90\Sigma 150-500 @ 450mm\1/60th\f11\ISO 200\Mode:Manual\D-Lighting - on\OS off\Tripod used
Tonight the sky is relatively clear and it is below freezing!! Some six hours after Moonshot I, I took the opportunity to open my bedroom window and take this image with my new Sigma 150-500's. I used the tripod as a two legged monopod, as the moon was high in the sky and at a very difficult angle. It is amazing how much the view changes in six hours!!!! I kept the focal length at 450mm but changed some other attributes like active D-lighting..
I prefer Moonshot I both from the actual moon itself and technically...
