I want to start shooting film to switch things up a bit.

These are from a few months ago and I never got

them developed until today.

That ball actually made it in....

Film is going to take some getting used to....

i like the high iso in this..

first of all, the sunset was amazing tonight. best one I've ever seen, and I've seen some pretty great ones...but it was on the way home from youth group that I saw it, and I didn't have my camera. I usually bring it everywhere. but of course, the one time I actually needed it when brought to a random place such as youth group, I needed it.

pretty typical day. slept in, read, pool. i know i keep saying tonight was youth group but that's not entirely true. it's out for the summer as you probably know if you read these frequently, but tonight was the "upcoming 11th graders" night for Aquacricket, (which is really hard to say) Aquacricket: a game our youth leaders came up with.

it was like a mix of Cricket and Kickball. with water balloons...

and popsicles afterwards! great night. got to see all my buddies.

this picture? well I had the idea to do this a while back, thinking it'd be an easy 365. which it was, and it actually turned out even better than i pictured it. which is rare, so I was happy.

also, today i found out that we probably won't be leaving Sunday anymore. which in a sense is good, because then I can just ride to the beach with all my friends, but then again, I was all prepared to leave and now it's not gonna happen. who knows when it'll actually happen...

dang it..I can't remember if I've already said this or not, but oh well. since the oil spill has reached Gulf Shores, (our original place for the beach trip) we're now going to Corpus Christi Texas. it'll be way different, but I still think God has awesome things in store.

oh and this morning Mrs. Tess ordered me a new adorable camera strap as an early birthday present! :DD can't wait. hope it's here in time for the beach.

This photo shows how bad things get if you try to use ISO 25,600 on a 1.6 crop DSLR.

Here you see the lack of dynamic range and contrast if you brighten you image 4 stops to get the equivalent of a ISO 25600 exposure.

Unfortunately almost all Canon DSLR cameras produce heavy banding pattern noise that get revealed by the extreme post processing options used here.

I felt that the clean lines of the book and the writing stood out well against the texture of the chairs.

An Imperial Storm Trooper looks on as the barbarian inhabitants of this small blue planet hit each other on the head with clubs. Much has changed in the past 20,000 years, but some things never change.

I couldn't get a decent shot at this dome last year. This year I couldn't help but get a bunch of keepers, even on the nights I didn't carry a tripod. What a difference a year makes! (Well, a year and a large donation to Canon.)

ISO 3200. See how clean it is... This camera actually works

ISO 640

@ ISO 400 this film is overrated and lacks in shadow detail. Chromogen B&W films really get ugly if shadows show no texture.

California ISO Headquarters, Dreyfuss & Blackford Architects. #wedesignedthis

The California Independent System Operator moved into their new headquarters campus, ahead of schedule and right on budget. This was a visionary project for the non-profit ISO, which manages the electrical grid for the entire state of California. The over-arching goal in the new facility was to create a secure, innovative and energy efficient headquarters complex. A further design goal was to enhance the work environment so that California ISO becomes the “employer of choice” for engineering and technical staff in the region.

The site is a pristine, gently rolling savannah with a glade of nearly 100 native oaks. We carefully nestled the building into the natural site, preserving the native oak trees. Generous native landscape areas were also preserved and incorporated as passive security setbacks for the facility.

The complex was designed with three separate building elements: a wing for public functions, a wing for administrative offices, and a wing housing the essential services “mission critical” operations. A striking central lobby serves as a hub, linking the building elements, providing way-finding and security screening.

To demonstrate leadership by example, the project placed an emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability and in July 2011 earned a LEED Platinum rating – the highest rating possible - from the US Green Building Council. The building is designed with a particular focus on achieving energy efficiency and is projected to operate nearly 40% more efficiently than California’s restrictive Title 24 standards with nearly 20% of it’s annual power consumption being supplied by renewable energy from on-site photovoltaic arrays.
