loving these beautiful little seed heads that I thought looked like lace.

[Again, edited to try to create a softer look than my 'normal'. Tweaked to produce the slightly sepia effect, though the colour palette isn't to far off from the original which was similarly muted. The background has a slight red due; the highlights a slight orange hue. I tried to keep some green in there for variation. The seed head itself was sharpened in the normal ways, whilst the background was softened marginally.

Am going to have to look up what this flower (and the previous two) are, as I seem to have forgotten.... Aah. It seems to be Platycodon, also known as a bell flower. That'll be it, then!]

Sincere thanks for your views, faves and comments.

I picked up a few beautiful peacock feathers while on holiday last summer. The colours and patterns are so beautiful and intricate. I will probably try this again, to see if I can get a deeper dof.

Macro Mondays theme ‘’Double Exposure’’

Because of Macro Mondays, I have learned so much each week. This week it is all about double exposure. Very tricky and not easy to get the perfect shot. But with patience and lots of practice you eventually get it.

Concerning my picture, in the background are a few hydrangeas dried flowers (first exposure) while in the foreground is the “skeleton” of another hydrangea flower (second exposure). This foreground flower is a rather big one for this kind of flower. It is 2 inches wide, as shown in the picture. Those in the background they are much smaller.

Thank you everyone for your visits, faves, and kind comments

This year I have 5 leaves on each plant...

A spotted scorpionfish, Scorpaena plumieri, sits motionless on a knob of coral, watching divers go past.

This fish develops many intricate and elaborate excrescences and color patterns that break up the normal lines of a fish. Take a look at higher resolution.

I am indebted to my fellow divers who find this and other camouflaged residents of the reef--I can't find them myself, but my friends (Mike, Ed, Tina, Markus) wait for me to catch up and point out the treasures.

This double leaf cutting was a gift. I cut them apart into separate cuttings.

I hope I can root the resulting cuttings with their short stems in water or a flowerpot.

Never had them in this colour before, new varieties all the time.

Love them or hate them, Parrot Tulips are Spring's grand (bulb) showcase, big and beautiful, they are flamboyant flowers with streaks, ruffles and frayed edges.

I couldn't believe how amazingly beautiful this rotted old leaf was until I examined it closely. Nature never disappoints!

This macro image is of a common dandelion seedpod, as observed in my garden.

Danderlion seedpods are frequent objects of photographers' attention, of course, with their delicate and intricate geometric patterns. But I decided to dress this seedpod up a little, ending up with a 'seedpod creative', and a different take on 'art in nature'.

I have created a Flickr Album entitled "At Home Creatives" where a selection of similarly-themed photographs will be found. I invite you to visit and I hope you enjoy.

To Prologue of the Story "The Doors"

♫♫Enya - Amarantine (Official Video)♫♫

The universe, a sprawling tapestry woven with countless doors, endless corridors of time, and intricate labyrinths of fate, often presents a landscape where the lines between reality and illusion blur. In this fantastical realm, getting lost is tragically easy. Each closed door feels like a severance, a part of our soul and consciousness sealed behind those impenetrable walls, often with the keys permanently misplaced, condemning us to never revisit what lies beyond. Yet, there are serendipitous moments when we forget to firmly shut a door. These forgotten thresholds become unexpected portals, invitations from the Universe itself to relive cherished moments, to dip back into the magical memories of long-forgotten days.

Just so, as the last guitar chords resonated then slowly faded, and silence descended upon the dance floor, leaving everything suspended in stillness, some doors remained unlocked. Someone, perhaps, had forgotten to close them. Through unseen time portals, streams of ethereal strings continue to swirl through matter, their melodies playing on. Even when dismissed as mere ghosts of our imagination, they persist, weaving their silent symphony through the endless labyrinths and corridors of time.

For while all else may prove transient, fleeting like a whisper on the wind, music alone possesses an eternal quality, forever echoing in the forgotten spaces of our hearts.

I could see some intricate detail staring down at me at Cambuskenneth Abbey and decided to take some pictures, in part so that I could get a better look. The pictures lined up in the folder so that the left and right hand side two separate images of the Bell Tower looked perfect for making into a panorama. Once joined Photoshop very kindly offered to create some picture to fit where the two overlapping images had no image recorded. The results were fantastic and the Cambuskenneth Abbey Peculiar Panorama Productions offered parts of the building and of the sky that were only available through Photoshop.

Perfect in that they had been created without thought of them being added into a panorama. Only on seeing the files next to each other on a PC screen did the idea of them being joined together as a panorama begin. They are not perfect in any other sense of the word, their perfection of two parts of one image only came about accident.

The father and the son

The rath Yatra chariot is intricately designed and decorated, with multiple tiers and ornate carvings. It is painted in a golden hue, adding to its grandeur.

Surrounding the chariot, there are makeshift structures, likely part of a fair or festival setup, with people and vendors visible in the background. The environment is an open ground, in a urban area, with tents and temporary stalls.

The Chariots of Rath Yatra:

The festival features massive, intricately decorated chariots (rathas) that carry the deities of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra, and sister Subhadra.

The chariots are typically constructed anew each year, and their design is highly symbolic and ornate.

The Procession:

During Rath Yatra, the deities are brought out from their temple (usually the Jagannath Temple in Puri) and placed in the chariots.

Devotees pull the chariots through the streets, a ritual believed to bring blessings and good fortune.

The procession involves music, chanting, and a large number of participants, creating a vibrant and devotional atmosphere.

Cultural Significance:

Rath Yatra is more than a religious event; it is a cultural spectacle that attracts pilgrims and tourists from around the world.

The festival symbolizes the journey of the divine siblings from their temple to their aunt's home (the Gundicha Temple in Puri), and back after a few days.

Local Variations:

While Puri’s Rath Yatra is the most famous, similar chariot festivals are held in other parts of India, each with its unique local customs and traditions.
