This night photograph of part of Tower Bridge was taken from the bridge pier looking towards the North Bank of River Thames during my recent visit to London.

The vertical bars held by pin connections from the blue primary members carried the bridge deck and traffic loads. The traffic light trails complemented the intricate structural patterns as seen from the bridge pier.

Best wishes for a wonderful week.

Small, stocky owl with large head and no neck. Pointed ear tufts are often raised. Varies in color from gray to bright rufous (reddish-brown). Intricate pattern is perfect for camouflage against tree bark. Yellow eyes. Active at night when they prey on small birds and mammals. More often heard than seen; listen for its descending whinny and longer trill. Roosts and nests in cavities, including nest boxes. Found in a variety of habitats with trees, particularly near water. (eBird)

A slightly quieter roosting spot from his original roost right next to the road where everyone parks. Of course, he was found and everyone goes to take his photo.

Another macro for Macro Mondays, theme curves. It's actually an individual agapanthus bud covered in raindrops. Have a great week every one !

I don't know what these are but love the intricate nature of them.

To create his unique jewelry, Allen paints intricate abstract and animal images on pieces of pottery. He then fires them and sets each one in sterling silver to create beautiful pendants, earrings, rings, bolo ties and concho belts. Each piece of jewelry is truly one of a kind

Wryneck - Jynx Torquilla

The wrynecks (genus Jynx) are a small but distinctive group of small Old World woodpeckers. Jynx is from the Ancient Greek iunx, the Eurasian wryneck.

Like the true woodpeckers, wrynecks have large heads, long tongues which they use to extract their insect prey and zygodactyl feet, with two toes pointing forward, and two backwards. However, they lack the stiff tail feathers that the true woodpeckers use when climbing trees, so they are more likely than their relatives to perch on a branch rather than an upright trunk.

Their bills are shorter and less dagger-like than in the true woodpeckers, but their chief prey are ants and other insects, which they find in decaying wood or almost bare soil. They re-use woodpecker holes for nesting, rather than making their own holes. The eggs are white, as with many hole nesters.

The two species have cryptic plumage, with intricate patterning of greys and browns. The adult moults rapidly between July and September, although some moult continues in its winter quarters. The voice is a nasal woodpecker-like call.

These birds get their English name from their ability to turn their heads almost 180 degrees. When disturbed at the nest, they use this snake-like head twisting and hissing as a threat display.

Lake Seliger is located on the Valdai Hills at an altitude of 205 meters above sea level. The coastline is very intricately cut and, for the most part, covered with coniferous and mixed forest. The area of 260 square meters. km (Seliger area in the twenty of the largest lakes in Russia), the average depth of 5-6 meters, maximum 24 meters. There are many islands on the lake, mostly small, but there are two large ones, Hachin and Gorodomlya. Lake Seliger has a maximum size of 70 km from north to south and 40 km from east to west. By origin Seliger is a glacial lake formed 70-11 thousand years ago. Not far from here at the village. Volgoverhove. is the source of the Volga River. Seliger has many islands, the largest of them are Hachin and Gorodomlya.

The intricated texture of a small dry sponge. It has shiny particles that in the light look like little gems that can only be seen with a macro lens.

Small and rotund with intricate brown, black, and white patterning. Some striking variation in plumage across range. Most males, including those in the eastern U.S., have bold black and white head pattern and heavy white spotting on belly. In Mexico, males can be entirely cinnamon-colored below and have a fully black head; some might have a white eyebrow or a dark chest band. Females are more consistent throughout range: look for buffy throat and eyebrow. Pairs or small groups are found in scrubby fields and brushy woods. Usually on the ground, but occasionally perches in trees when singing. The only quail native to the eastern U.S., where populations are declining sharply. Listen for distinctive “bob-WHITE!” whistle. (eBird)

-----------------

They really do call "Bob-white" in the most amazingly loud voice. We heard this one long before we saw him. His mate showed up briefly, but stayed hidden deep in the undergrowth.

This was in a field in Scotland after a heavy downpour of rain and I spotted this tiny wild flower about 2"- 3" in height that was growing from a fence top. It was dripping with water and intricate cobwebs spun across the stems

The story of autumn?... Will you tell me about the leaves that dance? (and the girl remembered how she imagined the leaves dancing in the sunset)

Of course I will... and of clouds that bring rain and cold... (whispered the wind)

And then we go back to the story of the old lady? (asked the little girl)

Hahaha... that's the same story... (laughed the wind)

It has clouds, it has rain and dancing leaves... and mist... (whispered more the wind)...

Mist? What is mist?... (asked the curious girl)... It sounds so mysterious... (continued the girl)

Johnston Canyon is an impressive natural chasm in the heart of Banff National Park, a beautiful gorge shaped by the rushing waters of Johnston Creek. Over many thousands of years, the river has carefully carved out intricate and dazzling shapes from the soft limestone rock, creating a stunning natural spectacle. With its overhanging, high walls, draped in lush vegetation, Johnston Canyon is a true delight.

This blue hour photograph of the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics Stadium, affectionately called the “Birdnest” was taken last month during my visit to Tsinghua University and our holidays around Beijing.

It was a relatively calm evening. The waterway adjacent to the Birdnest offered a near mirror-like surface for reflections of the intricate Birdnest structure and nearby trees.

Best wishes for a relaxing Sunday!

Enjoying a few days on Flickr - hydrangeas never cease to amaze me when they are in their colourful flowers and even when they have faded.

The intricate branches and the intense fuchsia color of a beautiful weeping cherry tree in London's St James' Park. Its long and thin twigs covered with blossoms lean graciously towards the ground, creating a scented curtain of deep pink flowers all around the trunk.

One summer morning after a heavy dew fell overnight, I spotted this intricate spider web. It was woven on and around some rhododendron leaves. The first thing I thought of was that the web and leaves were shaped just like a sailboat.
