A high key black and white image looking up the iconic Cecil Brewer Spiral Staircase inside Heal’s historic flagship store on Tottenham Court Road, London. Designed in 1916 by architect Cecil Brewer, cousin of Ambrose Heal, this spiral masterpiece is acclaimed as London’s most photographed staircase. Featuring an elegant flow of steps and a dramatic helix of lights, modernized in 2013 with a bespoke Bocci chandelier. This landmark structure exemplifies the store’s dedication to design and innovation. There isn't a lot of red yet in this part of Ontario, but it is coming slowly. Yesterday I just enjoyed the interplay of fall foliage and blue sky.

This painting captures the essence of a perfect autumn morning along the shores of Loch Sunart, where the stillness of the air and water merge into an almost dreamlike harmony. The lone tree, standing on its rocky promontory, embodies both solitude and quiet resilience, its presence made all the more poignant by the delicate interplay of light and reflection. The tree’s slender form is a sentinel over the loch, rooted in the rugged terrain yet reaching outward, its few crimson berries and autumnal leaves glowing in the soft radiance of the season.
Rendered in an Impressionistic style, the painting seeks to evoke the fleeting quality of light and atmosphere rather than strict realism. The far shore dissolves into abstraction, its softened pinkish hues and pale tonal shifts suggesting distance and an almost ethereal remoteness. Across the mirrored loch, a delicate disturbance—barely perceptible ripples—introduces a subtle movement, transforming the reflection into a shimmering, transient echo of the landscape.

The Sparkling Violetear (Colibri coruscans) is a dynamic and territorial hummingbird, often found in high-altitude regions of South America. This individual, photographed in Roncesvalles, Tolima, Colombia, was captured mid-flight as it fed from a vibrant fuchsia blossom. The interplay of iridescent greens and deep violets across its plumage glowed under soft, natural light, creating a striking contrast against the pastel tones of the background.
Freezing the motion of this fast-moving species required precise technique. A high shutter speed was essential to capture the rapid wingbeats without blur, while maintaining just enough depth of field to keep the bird and flower in sharp focus. The shallow background blur enhances the subject’s prominence, allowing its intricate feather structure and shimmering colors to stand out. Moments like these challenge both patience and reflexes, making the final image all the more rewarding.

This captivating image encapsulates the raw beauty and dynamic energy of the Pacific Grove coastline in California. The contrast of the old and the new in Derby's Friargate area, is what attracted me to this subject. New developments, mainly connected to the expansion of the University of Derby, provide this interplay between architectural periods. The Uni's Law School is the backdrop to this group of Georgian terraced townhouses.

During my walk in the canyon I've noticed luminous effect on the rock wall, a few feet above the water surface . None of the photos I took, do not show it so exactly like the video. It reminds me of sunlight effects under the bridge in my other recording.
These are the three from yesterday. Not a great comp and I worked hard to get them all in the frame with my fixed lens but I really wanted you to see the interplay. The male has the mustache and he is flashing his tail feathers.

Auf diesem Foto, das zu Beginn des Frühlings aufgenommen wurde, entfaltet sich eine atemberaubende Szenerie vor deinen Augen. Relying totally on the colours and the interplay between the light and the dark, this photograph still manages to capture my own personal interest.
Stepped out of the shower and saw the morning sun lighting the bathroom floor, liked the interplay of light, shadow and texture and ran naked though the house to retrieve my camera. A true artist needs no stinkin' clothes.
