This is 4 photos taken at different distances from a large flag. I cut the background out of the three closest photos and layered them on top of the largest flag image, and then blurred everything that wasn't the flag on final merged layers.

Independence Mine and Mill is a historic gold mining site near Victor, Colorado on the south slope of Battle Mountain. Between late 1893 and April 1899, approximately 200,000 ounces of gold was removed from the Independence Mine.

Looking west just after sunset at Independence Pass, Colorado. At elevation 12,095 ft., it is the third highest pass traversed by an improved road in Colorado.

 

The color in the sky is from smoke created by wildfires in southwestern Colorado.

June 12 is the Philippine Independence Day. I was not able to shoot at the events. I stayed home and shoot macros. No image manipulation. True reflection of the flag.

Washington Monuments.

Thanksgiving Night around the streets of Philadelphia... This is Independence Hall, just around the block from my friend's place. I have a 7-11 around the block from my place. Not quite the same thing... ;)

descending Independence Pass, Continental divide, Colorado, 12,095 feet. I remembered this picture today because I was so impressed by the clarity of the mountains at a distance despite the rain. Today is raining in Texas and I just registered my vehicle to this state...sad day. No such view anywhere near this place.

 

6,200 horses go to work at the head end of MNA Train KCMNA 26 passing the Truman Depot on the UP Sedalia Sub. With 35 loads, 12 empties, 5099 tons, and 3018 feet, the EMD pair lifts the snow off Main Track 1 while climbing Independence Hill.

built in 1958 to memorialize Cambodia's independence from France in 1953. It stands on the intersection of Norodom Boulevard and Sihanouk Boulevard in the center of the city. It is in the form of a lotus-shaped stupa, of the style seen at the Khmer temple at Banteay Srei and other Khmer historical sites.

In the heart of Tashkent, Independence Square is Uzbekistan's most important public space and a symbol of national sovereignty. Originally built during the Soviet era, the area has been transformed to reflect the country's independence and identity.

 

The square features long rows of white columns topped with metal stork sculptures, symbolizing peace. A series of fountains leads the eye toward modern government buildings in the background, including the Senate and Cabinet of Ministers. The space is open, symmetrical, and designed to impress, combining monumentality with calm, landscaped surroundings.

 

It's a place for official ceremonies, quiet walks, and, of course, photography.

Today is the day our founding fathers declared Americas independence from Great Britian by ratifying the Declaration of Independence. In this document contained a sentence that has motivated the American revolution and many other revolutions across the world.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

This 137.16m-tall free standing tower of soft, red sandstone is the tallest, and signature, formation of the Colorado National Monument, near Grand Junction, Colorado.

 

Sheer-walled canyons cut deep into sandstone and granite-gneiss-schist rock formations. This is an area of desert land high on the Colorado Plateau, with pinyon and juniper forests on the plateau. The park hosts a wide range of wildlife, including red-tailed hawks, golden eagles, ravens, jays, desert bighorn sheep, and coyotes.

 

Activities include hiking, horseback riding, road bicycling, and scenic drives; a visitor centre on the west side contains a natural history museum and gift shop. There are scenic views from trails, Rim Rock Drive, which winds along the plateau, and the campground.

 

Independence Monument stands in Monument Canyon, which runs the width of the park and includes a multitude of spectacular rock formations including the Kissing Couple, and Coke Ovens. It was first climbed in on 4 July 1911 by John Otto, the park's first ranger, just after the area was declared a National Monument on 24 May that year. It is traditionally climbed on 4 July every year by local climbers who ceremonially hoist a US flag on its summit.

 

The park became more well-known in the 1980s partly due to its inclusion as a stage of the major international bicycle race, the Coors Classic. The race through the park became known as "The Tour of the Moon", due to the spectacular landscapes the race passed through on Rim Rock Drive.

 

The oldest rocks in the park are early-to-middle Proterozoic gneiss and schist, including the Ute Canyon Stock. Overlying these, and separated by an angular unconformity, are mostly horizontally-bedded Mesozoic sedimentary rocks, including the cliff-forming Wingate Sandstone. Overlying these are various types of Quaternary unconsolidated deposits such as alluvium, colluvium, and dunes. The sedimentary rocks are folded into monoclines by several faults, including the Redlands Thrust Fault.
