On the anniversary celebrating the declaration of independence from England and the birth of democracy in the United States, this large mature bald eagle showed up near our house, its feathers ruffled after hearing rumors of an attempted coups d'etat and questionable decisions by the high court of the land. Hoping democratic order would remain, it eventually spread its wings and took off.
Wildflowers are still blooming in the foreground with the Independence Gold Mine far back and in the center of the photograph. This was a lovely day in the Talkeetna Mountains, looking rather verdant with large clouds roaming the sky. The gently curving sides tell the story that there was a glacier here in the past, very interesting as we're near the top of the mountains at this point.
