What motivated me to create this picture? The idea of turning an ordinary cell phone photo with Photoshop into an impressionistic pencil drawing with the addition of pastels
Marking the southernmost point on the Icelandic mainland, the Dyrhólaey Lighthouse (Icelandic: Dyrhólaeyjarviti) 13 metres (43 feet) high. In a country where fishing disasters are memorialised all over the place, what this light, the first sign of their native land flashing white every ten seconds into the grey North Atlantic, must have meant to crews returning home.
The first lighthouse on the site was a skeletal steel tower prefabricated in Sweden, erected in 1910. The present lighthouse was built in 1927.
In the distance, the Reynisdrangar sea stacks at the end of the famous black sand Reynisfjara beach are visible - although in this shot, the beach itself is not.

Beautiful Long Studio from the entrance side, showing the beautiful view it has over the sea and towards the Fogo Island Inn (seen on the opposite shore).
This is one of four artist's studios on Fogo Island, all occupied by artists with residencies on the island.

my thoughts on this lens:
Ein toller Fotowalk, dieses Mal aber ohne Video auf Youtube, dafür mit Dirk Verweyen. Hat viel Freude gemacht, einfach mal wieder nur zu fotografieren.
Dieser Gefängnisbau war die meiste Zeit seines Bestehens bekannt als "Sonderhaftanstalt des Ministeriums für Staatssicherheit der DDR Bautzen II", auch "StaSi-Knast" genannt. Heute ein sehenswertes Museum und ein heftiges Kontrast-Programm nach meinem Aschenbrödel-Wintermärchen am Vormittag. Auf 4 Stockwerken wird im ehemaligen Gefängnisbau der zumeist unmenschliche Haftalltag über 8 Jahrzehnte hinweg (1906-1992) dargestellt. Es mag nicht überraschen, dass ich auch hier wiederum vollkommen alleine unterwegs war (außer einem Aufseher im EG). Ein durchaus bedrückendes Erlebnis.

O homem ficou triste pois não entendeu o porque do seu pedido vir errado.
Daí pensou: Também, com tanta gente para atender... E resolveu não questionar.
Passado algum tempo, o homem foi verificar o pedido que deixara esquecido.
Para sua surpresa, do espinhoso e feio cacto havia nascido a mais bela das flores.
E a horrível lagarta transformara-se em uma belíssima borboleta.
Deus sempre age certo.
O Seu caminho é o melhor, mesmo que aos nossos olhos pareça estar dando tudo errado.
Se você pediu a Deus uma coisa e recebeu outra, confie.
Tenha a certeza de que Ele sempre dá o que

Der Indemann ist ein Aussichtsturm, der bei Lucherberg in der Gemeinde Inden im Kreis Düren auf der Abraumhalde Goltsteinkuppe steht. Er wurde als Projekt im Rahmen der EuRegionale 2008 realisiert.
Der Indemann ist eine 36 m hohe Konstruktion aus 280 t Stahl mit 20.000 Einzelteilen. Über 216 Stufen können die zwölf verschiedenen Ebenen erreicht werden. Ein Aufzug fährt bis auf 24 m hinauf. Das Edelstahlgewebe, welches die Konstruktion umschließt, ist eine Gemeinschaftsproduktion der ag4 media facade GmbH, Köln, und der Dürener Firma GKD Gebrüder Kufferath. 40.655 Leuchtdioden auf einer Fläche von 1.470 m² lassen den Indemann bei Nacht zum leuchtenden Symbol des Indelandes werden.

Sadly, despite the perfect mountain for their purposes, neither Castor nor Pollux chose to make an appearance in this photo of the Twin Peaks (sigh)... Anyways...
These are some of my favorite mountains in Utah to photograph. They're rugged, steep, colorful, and they have a magnificent form about them.
I was grateful, actually, for the slight shade that appeared on the ridge to the left. This seemed to accent the drama of just the right part of the mountain for me.
Oh boy. This one took its pounds of flesh. Doesn't it look peaceful here? It wasn't. There were hoards of black flies and mosquitoes. I had to set up the camera and then pace for over an hour until the conditions were right in a futile effort to keep from being drained dry by those little vampires.
10/10, would do again for that view. Mount Sir. Donald sure does look good in gold though, doesn't it?
Shot on a Canon 5D mark IV with a 24-70 f/2.8L ii and a LEE landscape polarizer. Processed in Camera Raw and Photoshop.

Here's a glimpse of how my brain works. Three similar photos taken from the same spot with the same exposure. First seemed not optimal with these strange inclusions left and right. Second was slightly better, possibly also balanced, with third I went into 'ooh, shiny!" mode and went for the glow in the backlit trees. Looking at it now, it seems like the first photo was the best: obvious 'flaws' remind it's made by human and I like the composition.
Shortly after I took the third photo, the dark cloud in the background went away and the sun came out with full force.
