If you look at the base of the mallard's yellow bill, you will notice a grey/brown blob. That is a duck leech. The parasite typically will slide into the nostrils or the mouth/throat and attach themselves to fill up with blood.
Sometimes I wish that I knew more. Sometimes there are too many questions. Even worse when there are more than one answer.
Ha! I don't really care all that much. That is how I keep my good looks.

Pictures like this are not hard to find in my city. Many people carry fully loaded pizzas with all kinds of toppings. Despite warning by some of medical experts about side effects, pizza is sold without any ID or background checks.

If you visit Pawnee National Grassland at any point throughout the summer, there's a fine chance you'll see one of these cryptically-colored goatsuckers sleeping atop a post or a tree branch. They're rather tame, probably because they rely on their apparent camouflage to protect them... unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work well when they're out in the open.
If someone is foolish enough in the next few years to start a nuclear conflict, we might have patches of road and buildings intact but no one left to live in them.
If you drive north from Jokulsarlon on Iceland's Highway One, this is the sight that greets you on the left. Something out of LOTR.

One of the many wind sculpted grit stone outcrops on the Northern Edge of Kinder Scout.
The heather slopes behind lead down to the lower reaches of Snake Pass, with Fairbrook Naze in the upper left frame and the moorland heights of Bleaklow in the distance.
This spot is just to the West of Seal Edge as I made my lonely route around this large escarpment to Fairbrook Naze and The Edge above Ashop Clough.

If I were looking for a vegetarian restaurant in Chinatown, I'd be hard pressed to go with the Lucky Creation Vegetarian Restaurant. I have a picture in my mind of walking through the kitchen and seeing the chef's laundry boiling on the stove. Maybe that's how they spruce up the flavor in those vegetarian dishes--laundry broth.
