The Starlings have returned to my garden for the summer. These birds are messy eaters; scattering food all around and then grabbing quick a drink before dashing off to the next venue. As unruly as they are, I still find them amusing and enjoy their visit.

Starlings will eat nearly anything, but they focus on insects and other invertebrates when they’re available. Common prey include grasshoppers, beetles, flies, caterpillars, snails, earthworms, millipedes, and spiders. They also eat fruits including wild and cultivated cherries, holly berries, hackberries, mulberries, tupelo, Virginia creeper, sumac, and blackberries; as well as grains, seeds, nectar, livestock feed, and garbage.

Male starlings begin building the nest before mating takes place, filling the cavity with grass and pine needles, along with feathers, trash, cloth, and string. There’s a depression near the back of the cavity where the cup is built and lined with feathers, fine bark, leaves, and grass. Females oversee the final arrangements and may discard some of the material the male added. Starlings also add fresh green plants to the nest throughout the nesting period, particularly during laying and incubation. Nests can be built in as little as 1-3 days. Both sexes incubate the eggs.

Went out with Mr Wild yesterday on a pretty sucessful mission. We didn't know that the place we were going was the right one, no background but when we got there (and it took a while) it was worth it.

This is one of the best places I've been exploring just fantastic.

If you visit southeastern Arizona during the summer, you could see this beautiful varied bunting that is a desert-loving cousin of the indigo bunting. Varied bunting arrive here very late in the spring and usually nest during the summer monsoon season. Look for them in thick and thorny desert scrublands.

If you ever are in Copenhagen, you need to try the mini Strawberry cakes. Especially in Summer, where they are made with Danish Strawberries (sugar coated) and pistachio... mmmmmmhmm :-)

If you are ever in Colorado, don't miss the Maroon Bells. They are located near the neat little town of Aspen. There are numerous campgrounds on the road heading up to the Bells, but you had best make reservations in advance. You have to do a little bit of hiking to reach Crater Lake, but make sure you do. It's an amazing spot.

If only she could speak............if ONLY she might tell us her Story.....

The pride, the warmth, the happiness,.......the joys, the laughter,.......all the memories she shared.............

IF only she could tell her story.............

I would love to hear her tale.................................

I wasted almost a half box of Fujifilm instax film and was getting ready to complain to Fuji about bad film when I found I had left the lens cap on.

“If he slept, he dreamt of the woman with the icy white irises. She exploded planes, swallowed oceans and crumpled skies

in her palm in his dreams. Sometimes she and the green-eyed girl were one. At other times, the green-eyed girl was alone, a gaping hole where her heart should have been. At all times he could hear the woman’s cold, low laughter. It swept across his consciousness like a hailstorm.

When he woke up, he thought he was going mad.”

And please, listen to this song about Succubus as well. I'm really addicted to everything about her. And I'm glad Dmitry joined me for this picture, I'm sorry for the knife, btw.

If ever there was a 'Must-do' location for photography on the west coast of Scotland it is this.

Eilean Donan Castle is a spectacular spot on its little island, just east of the village of Dornie. I was lucky enough to be there when the tide was in, and as the sea was flat calm the reflections were almost perfect.

The high tide also covered the mass of brown seaweed that lurks beneath.

If I could escape

And recreate a place as my own world

And I could be your favorite girl

Forever, perfectly together

And tell me, boy, now wouldn't that be sweet?

If you're going to spend a day in the mountains some 3 hours away from your place you're supposed to wake up early in the morning.

Of course that didn't happen and we were forced to skip a large part of our planned itinerary, leaving only a few quick stops for pictures and a late afternoon hike by the creek in beautiful Val Canali.

I took a whole bunch of pictures of this scene with my camera but i finally chose this one from my wife's smartphone because its HDR worked better than my Canon ever could in such a tricky situation. Had to compromise a bit on sheer image quality but at least everything i wanted to show is there and with an acceptable level of detail.

Or at least i hope so...
