It was forecast to be overcast, drizzly and dull, perfect I thought, what I got was partly cloudy, blue skies and bright, shit! However, overshadowed by trees and still with significant snow was this destroyed hunting tower, I was thrilled to see it collapsed, at least there the local deer can roam without the fear of the coward's gun.

At Mottistone on the Isle of Wight
This was two of maybe a dozen different kestrels hunting on this land. Amazing to watch.
A blue heron on the hunt in a creek at the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge in Stevensville, Montana.
Female Sparrowhawk about to pounce as she hunted the wee birds hiding in the hedge ... lucky for them the hedge is very dense and she didn't get them.

An diesem recht stürmischen Wintermorgen waren die Möwen sehr aktiv und haben einige Zeit lang gejagt.. Die See war dazu recht stürmisch und als dann noch die Sonne durchkam.. die Bedingungen hätten nicht besser sein können um die R3 ein wenig zu testen. Ich bin mehr als zufrieden!

The Great Blue Heron and the Black-crowned Night Heron were at opposite sides of a creek, working along the shallows. Occaisionally one would squawk at the other but for the most part they would search the muddy water, pose as if to make a strike and no fish were caught. I moved along and when I returned later the "Laurel & Hardy" of Herons were both still in the same locations.

This is an older picture, but you will not expect where i captured this picture ;) The picture is from Munich Airport, right next to a big street.... I don't know if this raptor is a kestrel or a sparrowhawk... If anyone knows it, please tell me :)
Instead of standing in water and getting her feathers wet, the great egret watched from the boardwalk and spot a big fish for afternoon meal. What a smart bird knowing how to strategize her hunting skill.

The Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) is a long-legged predatory wading bird of the heron family, Ardeidae, native throughout temperate Europe and Asia and also parts of Africa. It is resident in much of its range. A bird of wetland areas, it can be seen around lakes, rivers, ponds, marshes and on the sea coast. It feeds mostly on aquatic creatures which it catches after standing stationary beside or in the water or stalking its prey through the shallows.
Standing up to a metre tall, adults weigh from 1 to 2 kg (2.2 to 4.4 lb). They have a white head and neck with a broad black stripe that extends from the eye to the black crest.
