Former hunting lodge converted into a hotel with a friendly and warm ambiance, stands proudly at the edge of Loch Shieldaig near Gairloch.
A Wood Stork seems to be drying its wings and also using them to drive or scare fish into the danger zone. The right foot stirring up the water would indicate fishing as well as it stirs up the bottom driving fish forward toward the beak strike zone.
I watched this behavior for at least 15 minutes so it wasn't just a fleeting event.
Whatever it's doing it makes for an interesting photo.

These two males were the only Orcas we saw yesterday. They were hunting and hanging out together.
It was a fabulous day on the water. Weather cooperated and didn't rain, nor was it too sunny. I made a last minute decision to go whale watching out of Port Angeles and so glad I did. It's very hard to capture sharp photos while the boat is rocking in the wake but our captain did his best to keep us on track. Hope you enjoy this series.
Sometimes the treasure that you seek is right in front of you. Just remember when you find it, hold it, take care of it because Love is the most valued of treasures.

It is that heron in Bushy Park again , still on the lookout for afternoon tea ! It will do anything " fishy " for a fishy .
Grey Heron / Graureiher (Ardea cinerea)
I always get a thrill from seeing a Heron hunt in the middle of a meadow. Observing them for a few moments quickly show's how they're just as well adapted to spearing small mammals in grass as they are fish in water. A great predator.
I watched this beautiful, male, Western coyote hunt for around 20-minutes. In that short time he captured and devoured 6 or 8 rodents (probably mostly voles).
A flap-neck chameleon I was very lucky to meet in the garden the other day.

A big grizzly bear spots a salmon in the river and rushes into the water from the river bank in an unsucessful attempt to catch it. The bears are bulking up on salmon during the fall salmon run to see them through their winter hibernation. Chilko River, British Columbia.
