A kestrel high above the South Downs. I rather like the simplicity of this one which was taken from the top of Malling Down Nature Reserve.
Heron on the Isle of Wight pond on Bookham Common on the lookout for any passing lunch . I once saw about twenty heron in flight over this pond ( see shot in first comment box ) , it was quite a sight but weather conditions prevented any sort of a decent capture . There is/was a heronry very close to the pond , but since some issues with water levels and a sluice being replaced I have not seen the herons in large numbers these days .

I was really surprised to see this very healthy and well fed coyote out feeding on Saturday afternoon. I was even more surprised when the Northern Harrier showed up. I watched these two hunt meadow voles together along the edge of this soybean field for about 15 minutes. The coyote caught 3 or 4 and the harrier picked off at least one that the coyote missed.
It's not my highest quality photo, but it was such a cool experience to watch.
One of the highlights of our recent trip to Sacramento NWR was watching this Northern Harrier hunting. She repeatedly swooped and flushed the ducks below.
Rivalry between jays and magpies. I hear their screams, look out into the garden, grab my camera and - see them only disappearing in the trees
He was hunting along with other birds in another group. I have done some cropping here.

Jaguars - Wild - Two brothers - apparentely and according to the local boatman, these brothers have been recently separated from their mother, and despite the odds, they are still together. It was a great and unique moment. Better seen Large!

A lifer for me. It's my first attempt to capture the Prairie Falcon. I saw lots of great photos of the Prairie Falcon nicknamed Digit hunting/catching pigeons from my birding friends few years ago. But I never got a chance to capture it with my own camera. Fortunately, there's a "NEW" Prairie Falcon visiting the AGT few days ago and let me take some shots before it left our area. Big thank you to Kim Ng and Keith Huang for all the great tips about capturing this falcon. Much appreciated! It's a challenge for me to capture this brand new subject. There's not much time for me to learn its flight and hunting behavior before it disappeared.
Watched this falcon trying to catch pigeons for few times, but no success. It seems like both the falcon and I are the new guys at AGT.

The Great Blue Heron and the Black-crowned Night Heron were at opposite sides of a creek, working along the shallows. Occaisionally one would squawk at the other but for the most part they would search the muddy water, pose as if to make a strike and no fish were caught. I moved along and when I returned later the "Laurel & Hardy" of Herons were both still in the same locations.

Considering how rare they became it felt quite lucky and thrilling to accidentally bump into this beautiful male Hen harrier, hunting over the Zeeland polders. Although usually migrating to southern Europe and north Africa, a number of birds spend the winter in the Netherlands. Estimations of wintering birds range from 400 to 800 species (for 2013-2015). Only a dozen pairs breed in the Netherlands. In any case, the situation is still better there than in the UK where they are hunted to the brink of extinction.
The first part of its scientific name "circus" refers to the particular manner of hunting, often flying in circles as could be seen from this guy.

A pair of Harlequin Ducks hunting. It was fun to watch them dive and then try to figure out where they were going to pop back up.

Alviso, a small town in the San Francisco Bay Area, is always fun to visit. It's only 20 min from home and workplace, so I like to go there once in a while for sunset. I took this shot at the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge after sunset. Birds were wading in the water to hunt for food.
I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves.

Hunting Island State Park is in miles east of Beauford, SC......At one time there were many private cabins in the island......I believe this is the only one not destroyed by high beach erosion......A number of the "Forrest Gump" scenes were filmed on and around the lagoon in the inland center.....The light house is still intact.The island stills holds the record for largest mosquito I have encountered.....
An diesem recht stürmischen Wintermorgen waren die Möwen sehr aktiv und haben einige Zeit lang gejagt.. Die See war dazu recht stürmisch und als dann noch die Sonne durchkam.. die Bedingungen hätten nicht besser sein können um die R3 ein wenig zu testen. Ich bin mehr als zufrieden!
The Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) is a long-legged predatory wading bird of the heron family, Ardeidae, native throughout temperate Europe and Asia and also parts of Africa. It is resident in much of its range. A bird of wetland areas, it can be seen around lakes, rivers, ponds, marshes and on the sea coast. It feeds mostly on aquatic creatures which it catches after standing stationary beside or in the water or stalking its prey through the shallows.
Standing up to a metre tall, adults weigh from 1 to 2 kg (2.2 to 4.4 lb). They have a white head and neck with a broad black stripe that extends from the eye to the black crest. The body and wings are grey above and the underparts are greyish-white, with some black on the flanks. The long, sharply pointed beak is pinkish-yellow and the legs are brown. (Source: Wikipedia)
