Peregrine Falcon- the last shot from our peregrine encounter. Not seen her for a few weeks now, she may have moved on sadly.
Frail but still standing, the Hundred Guinea Oak is now over 600 years old. William John Chute who owned The Vyne in the late Georgian period was offered a hundred pounds and later a hundred guineas for the timber.
He flatly refused to sell the oak which you can see for yourself at the top of the lime avenue.

This MM theme went round and round (no pun intended) in my head all day. After an exhausting day and an accidental after-dinner nap on the sofa 😱, I decided on the simplest thing I could get my hands on. A thimble, which lights nicely and creates its own bokeh. I'm still not sure it's the best thing I could've come up with in the (rather limited) time I've had over the past week, but here it is anyway.
Smile on Saturday is a weekly stop of fun, smiles, laughs, chuckles and a HSoS!!!!!! This is one big smile but hopefully it will give "one hundred smiles"
The bar-tailed godwit is a long-billed, long-legged wading bird which visits UK shores for the winter. Most usually seen in its grey-brown winter plumage, birds in spring may show their full rich chestnut breeding plumage. In flight it shows a white patch stretching from the rump up the back, narrowing to a point. It breeds in the Arctic of Scandinavia and Siberia and hundreds of thousands of them pass through the UK, on their way further south, or stop off here for the winter.

Time flies by, it's already late spring and I'm still posting the autumn photos. I'm not even mad. I've discolored this one a little bit, it seem like a hundred years from then. Time flies by, not very fast, when you can't do anything and you're just hybernating to get through the time to another realm...

Hundred islands , Philippines
As we are near the end of our travel serie from the Philippines , one more time, the Hundred islands, the main highlight of our holiday.
It is a national park and a major tourist spot.
The islands, totaling 124 at low tide and 123 at high tide, are scattered in Lingayen Gulf. Only three of them have been developed for tourism: Governor Island, Quezon Island, and Children's Island.
The islands are believed to be about two million years old
The location is in Pangasinan in Luzon and the nearest city is Alaminos.
We have had a great time here, a beautiful view, good food and friendly people.
The beautiful small beaches, the tropical views, the many fish will always be remembered as one of the highlights in our life.
We choose Philippines.

The Bald Eagle has been the national emblem of the United States since 1782 and a spiritual symbol for native people for far longer than that. Idetordoune (1566), Ittor Doune (1687), Idetor (1737), Eator Down (1762) and Itterdown (1789) are a few recorded examples of earlier names by which Haytor was known. The name Haytor is of comparatively recent origin, and is probably a corruption of its old name and that of the Haytor Hundred, which covered the coastal area between the River Teign and River Dart, itself now considered to have been named after a lost village located somewhere between Totnes and Newton Abbot.
In the 19th century steps were made to allow pedestrians up to the top of the tor and a metal handrail fixed to allow tourists easier access to the summit. This was not entirely welcomed and in 1851, a Dr Croker complained about the rock steps that had been cut "to enable the enervated and pinguedinous scions of humanity of this wonderful nineteenth century to gain the summit". The handrail was removed in the 1960s due to it rusting: the stumps of the uprights are still embedded in the rock

Schon vor der Zeit von Gefrierschränken (um 1800) hat man auf der Insel in diesen Iglus Schnee für die Sommerzeit gelagert. Arbeiter haben das Eis dann nach Funchal über 1500m bergab an den Strand gebracht. das war damals ein großer Luxus und Alleinstellungsmerkmal.

There are hundreds of these posts and all of them are decorated in some form or fashion. It was really impressive. There are tags on them but they just say, done by several groups of people. I'm not the sharpest knife in the draw but I already figured that out. Anyway, you find this place by taking Beach street. It dead ends at the pier.
