Another shot from the "hummingbird convention" I attended at Gilbert Riparian Preserve a few days ago. This was taken with my Nikon D50.
This Hummingbird was hanging out on the feeder at the office of the Pitch and Putt at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver BC.
"Hey, what's that bird sitting in the tree? REALLY? A hummingbird?! Sweet!" Mhm...that was the conversation in my head. This little guy was WAAAAY up in the tree so this is a serious crop. But hey, it's a hummingbird...and until I get a better chance at one closer to me...this is what you get :)
Hummingbird at 1/750th second using Pentas istDS DSLR and 70-220mm Soligor ED macro zoom set at max zoom in macro focus. Distance is 4 feet.
This photo was cropped from 6.1 megapixels and I applied a logarithmic brightness scale of 25 to it to get the feather detail where I could see it.
"Hummingbirds are so amazing. They are so small and have to work so hard just to live but they are fasinating." - Lorene Kimura, 2013 myPQB Story Contest
He feeds everyday from the same flowers!
If I am not mistaken this is the same one I captured flying sometime ago!
