Here's an image I did for a MultiTool.org thread named "Got a Light?" These are some of the lighters I use to light cigars with and burn the ends of paracord (550 cord for you military folk). I shot this with my iPhone (really loving that camera at the moment) on my coffee table humidor my wife got me for Christmas a couple years ago. Thanks for looking and have a GREAT weekend!¡!
Life is good with a great cigar and a comfortable, relaxing place to smoke. Life is still good when smoking out in the snow or in the basement because, hey, its a cigar. But, the smoking experience certainly could be better. My current cigar smoking choices are out on the deck or a dingy basement. That New Hampshire deck saw nearly ten-feet of snow last winter. Rain, insects, or summer heat relegated cigar smoking for much of the rest of the year to the basement. Here the experience wasnt much better than being frostbit or stung by black flies. The nagging wife, a mandatory fan in the window, clothes lines with womens underwear, and a litter box smelling of cat **** in the corner all diminished the enjoyment. An epiphany for the perfect-place-to-smoke came when I bought a toy hauler RV. Its built-in garage would be an excellent cigar cave after modification. Remove the rear bunks and modify the motorized bed frame by adding drop-down leather chairs and a big screen TV. With a nice humidor, a kegorator, and, of course, a Partagas sign on the wall, this cave becomes the perfect rolling tribute to the Partagas way of enjoying cigars.

Glass is steeped in Hollywood history, starting off previously as a cigar lounge with private humidors for the likes of Oliver Stone and Bono. 208-PU-70A-3: Secretary James V. Forrestal Makes Last Inspection of Bomb Disposal School. As a memento of his inspection of the Washington, D.C., Navy Bomb Disposal School at American University, Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal is presented with a humidor and cigarette lighter made from captured enemy equipment by the Officer-in-Charge of the school, Lieutenant Commander J.P. David, USNR. The humidor was made from a Nazi fuse and the lighter which is inside the humidor – from a Japanese hand grenade. The school, scheduled to be decommissioned on September 30, 1945, holds the last graduation on September 15. Photograph released September 12, 1945. Office of War Information Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives. (2016/03/29).
Let me preface this by saying that I do understand the risks of smoking. I also understand the added risks of smoking for people with diabetes.
I have always loved the smell of cigar smoke. My dad used to smoke cigars all the time when I was little. When I went off to college I picked it up as an occaisional habit and now I keep a small humidor on my bureau.
It is one of those silly things that I know is bad for me, but makes me happy. SO, why not? fyi, I smoke maybe one or two cigars a month.

Humidor at Cig's Aficionado in the Palma Real Shopping Village found in Playa de Bavaro, Higuey, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic - where the cigars age for at least 60 days after being rolled
Kieffer's, in Liverpool NY, has been in the family for generations. The small cigar, lottery, and news store attracts many repeat clientele with its large selection of scratch offs and high quality cigars. The store has a walk-in humidor and allows customers to smoke inside. Currently, the store is run by all females.
Nat Sherman Townhouse, the premium cigar shop on 42nd Street near Grand Central Terminal was founded by Nat Sherman in 1930 and until the business was sold to tobacco giant Altria in 2017, it remained a family-owned business helmed by the three grandchildren of Nat. Sadly the flagship shop closed in 2020 when Altria decided to cease operations of its cigar business. We absolutely loved the exterior of this storefront but also enjoyed going inside the shop where thousands of different cigars from around the world, humidors, lighters and tobacco memorabilia were on display. The staff was super welcoming and prided themselves on making everyone from all walks of life feel at home in the shop. Nat Sherman also produced 23 varieties of cigarettes and in its heyday made customized versions for its high-profile clients including Frank Sinatra, who was partial to one with an orange paper which matched the interior of his airplane. There was also a clubhouse downstairs, reserved for members who paid an annual fee, to relax and smoke and who were also given personalized lockers to store their cigar stash.
•
Let us know if you visited this cigar lover gem where you could purchase their best-selling cigar, the Nat Sherman Host Hobart for $5.75 each, which was about the same price as a gourmet cup of coffee in 2016 when we took this photo.

A hand-painted Romeo y Julieta 125th Anniversary Edition cigar humidor. These cigars were purchased to celebrate the birth of my second daughter, who is now 4 1/2. At the time of this writing, there are two cigars left.
I recently started reading Light: Science and Magic: An Introduction to Photographic Lighting. Chapter 3 talks about diffused vs. direct reflection as it relates to the family of angles and calls upon copy photography as illustrative subjects. I have always admired this painting. Given the incredibly smooth and reflective surface of this humidor, it immediately jumped to mind as a perfect subject for this exercise.
strobist: sb-800 at 1/2 power camera left outside the family of angles to ensure a diffused reflection; metered with a sekonic l-358 left/center/right to ensure even illumination across the subject. Custom white balance established with an ExpoDisc.
post: Saturation increased by +7 in Lightroom. Minimal spot healing and patching in Phtoshop to remove slight scratches and the few remaining pieces of lint. Resized and sharpened for web presentation.

Two hygrometers -- one for each humidor -- keep track of humidity. The Coleman coolers keep the humidity consistently above 90%, which is the highest level this $12 gadget reads. Unfortunately, the remote sensor is only for temperature, not humidity. So the gizmo has to go inside the humidor.

I smoke Partagas cigars on the back patio.I envision a built in patio with picture windows. An outdoor view, indoors.A wooden game table and cushioned chairs, an ice machine. Partagas cigars are complimented by a cold drink, bar area with a cabinet humidor.A movie and sound experience on a large L.E.D.flat-panel and sound system.
The Patio cave would have its own independent air conditioning, fan and ventilation.Cherry wood adding class to the natural and masculine environment. The entertainment Mecca would compliment the full-bodied, intense rich flavor of Partagas premium cigars.Upon leather couch,a Bond movie on the big screen, the 007 theme in my ears:I smell the aroma of my Partagas removing from the wrapper.Lighting the Partagas, the even burn reveals the quality of the hand rolled process.Light draw is like taking a bite of fire-grilled primerib steak, satisfying. Some describe hints of almond, cedar, or roasted coffee.I taste the superior tobacco:bold, yet not harsh. The smooth and relaxing cigar takes my mind to places I have been. Like, morning hikes through the cedar forest trails along side the Frio River in the Texas-Hill country.Taking an escape from the city to nature's hideaways. All while relaxing in my Partagas-cigar-cave in the comfort of my own home.

Location: Fontainebleau Hotel, Miami
Esquire, together with partners Double Cross Vodka, Herradura Tequila, and Camacho Cigars hosted the launch party for The Lounge at Gotham Steak, Chef Alfred Portale’s newly re-designed restaurant in the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami. As guests sipped on specialty cocktails from Double Cross Vodka and Herradura Tequila, they joined Chef Portale in celebrating the arrival of newly-appointed Chef de Cuisine Todd Miller. Chef Miller created a variety of delicious hors d’oeuvres from a newly designed menu for the 175 guests to enjoy and savor.
Additionally, Camacho cigars created an outdoor Cigar Lounge where guests could enjoy a cigar that overlooked the Fontainebleau’s legendary pool deck. At the conclusion of the event, guests were treated to a gift bag that included an Esquire issue, a copy of Esquire’s new cookbook, ‘Eat Like a Man’, and complimentary cigars and a cutter from Camacho cigars.
