Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!
Today is a yellow day at Color my world daily and let’s celebrate with a cigar. Why not ? Well, technically I don’t smoke but I have few cuban cigars left (a gift from our last trip to Cuba in 2019). This Cuban cigar is very, very dry since we don’t have a humidor to keep it in. But it is perfect for a photo session. And who knew how interesting cigars are under a macro lens ? Not me ! So, if you are not a smoker (like me) but just are curious about how stuff looks from a macro point of view, like this picture without hesitation !! There is not second hand smoke involved, so don’t worry about your health….however the yellow in the background is very bright and might burn your retina if you look at it for too long…
Mucho, mucho amor for you my friends !! Have a beautiful day !!!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !

129/365 Humidor
Earlier this morning the commute around the city was busy, trams packed to capacity and everyone back to work from he extended Holidays. I walked. Which provided a nice scenic route to enjoy....albeit a little slow from all of the fresh snow on the ground but thoroughly enjoyable none the less. :)

A favorite cigar, the Anejo 55 by Fuente. This one has been sitting in a humidor since I purchased it in January of 2022. The crack above the band, and not shown the wrapper split up the back of the cigar, indicate it is a little moist. The humidification has been fine for the other cigars in the humidor but evidently a little much for these. I believe the moisture turns to steam behind the "cherry" and causes the tobacco to swell and expand. The cherry is the part of the cigar actually burning, like a lump of coal.
Allegedly these are the same filler as the Fuente Opus X, but with a different wrapper. Traditionally the Opus X has been a prized and sought after, over hyped and over priced cigar. I don't care for the Opus, but like these.
When I bought these they were $67.65 for a five pack, 16 months later and they are $82.50. I'm sure Fuente will state price the increase is due to the challenges of "COVID". I am fairly sure the price increase is due to GREED. Fortunately, while I have to buy soap and bread, I don't need to buy any cigars.
Taken at f/2.0 at MFD
Or do they cause more trouble?
Either way, this ex-redhead concurs.
"Tucked away on bustling Ontario Street, The Redhead Piano Bar has been a neighborhood mainstay and a favorite among locals and tourists alike since 1993. Offering nightly live piano music, The Redhead is the perfect late night spot for upbeat performances, engaging conversation, and meeting new people. The Redhead features a heated, year round covered outdoor smoking patio and a custom walk-in humidor offering over 150 cigars for purchase.” —their website
And I LOVE their sign.
"Let me take the night, I love real easy
And I know that you'll still wanna see me
On the Sunday morning, music real loud
Let me love you while the moon is still out
Something in you, lit up heaven in me
The feeling won't let me sleep
'Cause I'm lost in the way you move, the way you feel
One kiss is all it takes
Fallin' in love with me
Possibilities
I look like all you need
One kiss is all it takes
Fallin' in love with me
Possibilities
I look like all you need"

1931 Cord L-29 LaGrande Speedster
This Cord is an authentic recreation (not a replica - but a “recreation”) of the 1931 Paris Automobile Show car. The original car was purchased at the Paris Automobile Show by Paul Berns, the husband of screen actress, Jean Harlow (however, there is some question as to the validity of this claim.) This vehicle was built using an original Cord chassis and running gear. Every detail of the original is seen in this recreation including door panel and humidor. Car collector Dr. Fay Culbreth commissioned Stan Gilliland, of Kansas, to build the vehicle. The coachwork was carefully constructed by Mark Kennison to identically match the vintage Cord.
The fate of the “original” Phil Wright designed speedster is unknown……….. or rather, a mystery; see my post of October 6, 2012, found here ( flic.kr/p/dTpopu ) for the full story.
The 1931 front-wheel drive Cord is poweredby a 297 cubic inch Lycoming in-line eight-cylinder engine that produces 125 horsepower. This custom bodied speedster is built on the standard 138-inch wheelbase.

Coors Field is a baseball venue located in Denver, Colorado. It is the home field of Major League Baseball's Colorado Rockies. It is named for the Coors Brewing Company of Golden, Colorado, which purchased the naming rights to the park prior to its completion in 1995. The Rockies played their first two seasons, 1993 and 1994, in Mile High Stadium before moving to Coors Field, two blocks from Union Station in Denver's Lower Downtown (or LoDo) neighborhood. The park includes 63 luxury suites and 4,526 club seats.
Coors Field was the first new stadium added in a six-year period in which Denver's sports venues were upgraded, along with Pepsi Center and Sports Authority Field at Mile High (originally sponsored by INVESCO). It was also the first baseball-only National League Park since Dodger Stadium was built in 1962. When Marlins Park opened in 2012, Coors Field became the third oldest stadium in the National League, despite its relatively young age.
As with the other new venues, Coors Field was constructed with accessibility in mind. It sits near Interstate 25 and has direct access to the 20th Street and Park Avenue exits. Nearby Union Station also provides light rail access.
Coors Field was originally planned to be somewhat smaller, seating only 43,800. However, after the Rockies drew almost 4.5 million people in their first season at Mile High Stadium - the most in baseball history - the plans were altered during construction, and new seats in the right field upper deck were added.
The center field bleacher section has its own informal name: "The Rockpile". During the 1993 and 1994 seasons when the team played at Mile High Stadium, which was a hybrid football/baseball venue, the Rockpile was located next to the south stands, which were in dead center field and very distant from home plate. The same design was incorporated into Coors Field, and is located in deep center field up high. The original Rockpile seats cost a dollar each.
During construction, workers discovered a number of dinosaur fossils throughout the grounds, including a 7-foot-long (2.1 m) 1,000-pound (450 kg) triceratops skull. Because of this, "Jurassic Park" was one of the first names to be considered for the stadium. This later led to the selection of a dinosaur as the Rockies' mascot, "Dinger".
Stadium designers speculated early on that Coors Field would give up a lot of home runs. It is by far the highest park in the majors, and designers knew that the low air density at such a high elevation would result in balls traveling farther than in other parks. With this in mind, the outfield fences were placed at an unusually far distance from home plate, thus creating one of the largest outfields in baseball today. In spite of the pushed-back fences, for many years Coors Field not only gave up the most home runs in baseball, but the most doubles and triples as well.
A room-sized humidor was installed in which to store the baseballs, and since its introduction the number of home runs at Coors Field has decreased and is now nearly the same as other parks.

At Duper's Super, Bonnie Bailey and Cam Cooper are getting ideas of what to bring for the Thanksgiving meal at the Simmons.* And each are having their own thoughts about another matter...
Bonnie: So, bread pudding?
Cam: Bread pudding sounds good, Bonnie.
Bonnie: Cam! Every idea I come up with you say it sounds good!
Cam: Um, you have good ideas?
Bonnie: Or, you're not putting enough thought into this?
Cam: *sighs* Well, Bonnie, if Oliver invites me over to work on his deck, I've got plenty of ideas. But, what kind of dish to bring for Koncedra's menu? Yeah... out of my wheelhouse.
Bonnie: *giggles*
Cam: But bread pudding is good.
Bonnie: But I have to bring a casserole. I have to! I'm thinking green bean.
Cam: Green bean casserole sounds good, Bonnie.
Bonnie: *giggles*
Bonnie Bailey is joyously happy. It's been years of carefully positioning herself with Cam. Along with help from Koncedra Simmons!** It's always seemed right to her. Bonnie and Cam had both lost their spouses in the first Rift War. Bonnie remembers that grief, still feels it's bitter impact today. She was sure life was over, but life kept going. People kept doing all those things. Work. Eating. Getting together. So, Bonnie had to as well. But it all felt so wrong, so empty.
Those around her loved her, and tried to comfort her, but they had not experienced what she had. None of her friends had lost their spouse. But, Cam had.
She's significantly younger than Cam, but he's a strong man, and so kind and gentle. And Cam seems to love her daughter Roxie.
Bonnie sees it as a restoration meant to be. The Scripture concerning Job, who lost so much, came to mind, Job 42:10 , "And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before."
Cam: I was thinking we could stop at Long Tom's Humidor on the way back and pick out some good cigars for Oliver.
Cam's quiet, strong voice snaps Bonnie out of her memories and, with some alarm, she realizes that the thoughts have brought a frown to her face. She quickly brightens, and beams again.
Bonnie: You're going to smoke stinky cigars??
Cam: Well, outside of course. Koncedra doesn't like them either. But Oliver loves em.
Cam is still unsure about this, but recognizes, with a bit of surprise, that his reservations are rapidly fading. Getting married again? Would it be a betrayal to Cass?*** He had determined, in all the heavy grief after her passing, that he would never love in this way again. And then, along came Bonnie. Always there. Always helpful and encouraging. And, quite lovely.
Cam suddenly didn't feel in control at all. Like he was being swept along by a very strong current. Well, there was no doubting his feelings for Bonnie now, but, still, more careful prayer was in order. Maybe it was time for the grieving and loneliness to give way to something new, and better. As in 1 Peter 5:10, "And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you."
Bonnie: OH! What about squash!? Listen to this, maple bacon pecan roasted butternut squash. Hm??
Cam: Bacon? Okay, now that does sound good!

God's Restoration - 1 Peter 5:10
"And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who called you to His eternal glory in Christ will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you." We're to live with the understanding that God's purpose realized in the future requires some pain in the present. God Himself in the wealth of His grace as the one who has called them to share in His own glory can be counted on according to His purpose to use their brief earthly sufferings to make them strong and steadfast. And when they become strong and steadfast, they are then to be the recipients of a greater eternal reward. So says Peter, "And after you have suffered for a little while." It may seem intense and it may seem long but it's really very brief, just a little while.
He used that same statement in chapter 1 verse 6, just a little while. But if you have suffered a little while, know this, the God of all grace — what a title, 2 Corinthians 1:3 He's called the God of all comfort, here He's the God of all grace, undeserved favor, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, an effectual saving call, will Himself perfect, confirm, strength and establish you.
If you could only understand what the spiritual warfare is doing for you, you would appreciate it instead of resenting it. After all, nothing can separate you from the love of Christ. Nothing can change that. So all the suffering that comes here is just to strengthen you, to establish you, to confirm you, to perfect you, to make you more the man and woman of God that you should be.
This isn't so much talking about grace for eternity. God's already promised that. This is grace for time. This is while we're alive making us what we ought to be.
So what about those four words? Well, they're almost synonyms. To perfect means to bring you to wholeness, to confirm means to set you fast, to strengthen means to make you strong, to establish you means to lay you as a foundation. They all speak of strength, resoluteness. And that's what God wants to do in your life through the spiritual battle.
They ought to encourage you, those four words, in the spiritual battle. God Himself is there battling and through the battle you become perfect, confirmed, strong and established. Submission, humility, trust, self-control, vigilant defense, and hope. You say, "Why hope?" Because in the midst of my suffering I have hope in what I am becoming; and because of what I am becoming, what I will be in eternal glory, that's hope.

Wish you Merry Christmas to my all the friends, co-workers, Bosses, Flickrers, family, FB friends and neighbours!
Thank you for the perfume, Cigars, humidor, beverages, sweet, flowers and chocolates. I will love you all with gift or without.. All I need it LOVE.
29 degrees C/88 degrees F and humidity above 80% is an interesting time to capture images in Nassau. Using Image 100 for the first time, again trying to practice looking for that thing called color. Nonetheless, the palate of this is much more subdued than Portra and Ektar, and in my naive hands does better with more subtle shades than overly bright ones. The latitude is quite good, and at EI100 I was surprised at its versatility. It does remind me that it might be time for more C41 chemistry. Thanks to all who continue to capture and inspire the rest of us.
A refined TABLE AND HUMIDOR in one, available in both coffee table and cocktail table sizes. Each set comes in black, white, or brown leather, with a fatpack option including all colors.
FEATURES include an interactive rotating tray, a cigar dispenser, on/off smoke effects on touch for the ashtray and handheld cigar, and a touch-activated lamp.
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of ACID cigars, Drew Estate announces today the launch of “KUBA ARTE”, a limited edition cigar packaged in a series of seven collectible water tower humidors. Each features art created in collaboration with five of Brooklyn’s most legendary and respected living writers in aerosol art culture.
The ACID ”KUBA ARTE” is a 5 13/16” x 54 limited edition torpedo wrapped in a lush Broadleaf maduro capa, bright Indonesian binder and a blend of hearty Nicaraguan fillers. Each 20 count limited edition water tower is packaged with a Boveda inside and features one of seven unique designs. A total of 1,750 sets of 7 were created for this limited release.
If you're a BOTL (Brother of the Leaf) or SOTL (Sister of the Leaf) get yours ASAP before they're gone. I'd like to collect all 7 but there's no way I can store that many cigars in my humidor. LOL
An old church in Tampa has been converted into a stunning cigar bar.
In 1906, the First Congregational Church of Tampa was constructed and consecrated on the corner of Florida Avenue and East Frances. The brick building still stands 115 years later, but the religious denomination has been converted. Here, at what has since been rechristened the Grand Cathedral of Cigars, the religion is tobacco. And its minister is Angela Yue, proprietor and partner in this massive monument to the art of smoking—and to all things Fuente. The humidor holds many brands, but the focus is clearly on Fuente products.
While “Arturo Fuente” isn’t in the name, the Grand Cathedral of Cigars is one of the most comprehensive Fuente-centric establishments in existence, up there with Casa Fuente in Las Vegas and the Arturo Fuente Cigar Club in the Dominican Republic. Carlos Fuente Jr. is a partner in the operation, and his image, along with branded Fuente iconography and archival photos of his family’s legacy, can be found in nearly every corner of this stunning architectural restoration.
Like a visiting pope, Fuente himself only appears in the flesh on rare occasion. And in typical Fuente fashion, it seems no expense was spared turning this structure into the cigar destination it now is. There’s a third partner as well, Nathan Kalasho, but the day-to-day operations are handled by Yue while Kalasho runs their other store, Lord Puffer, another Fuente-heavy shop in Escondido, California.
Now that Yue has moved to Tampa full time, her dedication to the Grand Cathedral has become monastic. Cut-and-light rituals are conducted like daily prayers as the smoke of burning tobacco takes on the importance of holy incense.
Fuente has always referred to his cigar factory in the Dominican Republic as a “cathedral.” Now, he literally gives us one.

The Owl Shop, 268 College Street, New Haven, Connecticut. The Owl Shop was originally opened as a bookstore by Joseph St. John who came to America from Greece in 1925. Joseph was also selling pipe tobacco, and soon tobaccos and tobacco accessories were the products of choice. Between 1937 and 1950 he and his wife Catherine expanded to five stores throughout New Haven, until in 1951 they chose to consolidate under one roof at this location. After the death of her husband, Catherine kept the shop open and became one of the original tobacconists in the country to sell Avo Cigars and to become a Davidoff Cigars Appointed Merchant.
In 1998, Glen Greenberg bought the Owl Shop, and in 1999 he acquired a liquor license. Since 2004 the Owl Shop has been the only public venue in Connecticut where one can smoke and drink. One of the original employees, Joe Lentine, a Master Tobacconist and true tobacco aficionado continued working at the Owl Shop until his untimely death in 2015. Today the Owl Shop boasts a plush cigar lounge, weekly free live music, full cocktail bar with over 200 whiskies, a coffee bar, light fare served day and night, and a walk-in humidor.
