I do not exaggerate when I say that I truly love cigars. I have just been collecting as much cigar stuff as I can; old boxes, pictures, ashtrays. I have a great collection of cutters and lighters, seven humidors a 2006 New York Times article personally signed by Jose Padron, and picture with and signature of Benji Menendez who I met at a local cigar dinner. I proudly display in my garage where I often play cards and ***** pool with my buds, but can not smoke.
Where I currently smoke is the front yard, right on the steps, if it is raining I use and umbrella. I have stopped smoking in the backyard because if I am not quick enough my dogs will take my cigars, even lit. So many times I wish I could just sit finish up work, watch a little t.v., not in the extreme cold or heat and enjoy a great smoke to cap off the night. I have plenty of ideas to have a smoking area and my own little cigar museum. With a great cave I can smoke and educate about cigars.

I recently got a bunch of cigars my gf brought from Cuba. Good thing they aren't illegal in Mexico :) I've had this little humidor for some years and it has never been so full as today. Happy days!

L’extérieur à été peint à la main et poli avec l’un des produits miracle de la marque pour assurer un rendu bien brillant, et agrémenté d’un médaillon inspiré du film. L’intérieur est quant à lui fait de cèdre espagnol et un hygromètre analogique intégré assure un taux d’humidité optimal à la centaine de cigares qu’elle contiendra. Chacune de ces pièces de collection sera accompagné d’une plaque numérotée ainsi que d’un certificat d’authenticité estampillé Daniel Marshall. Et avec ce collector on trouvera bien évidement :
- Le film dans sa version Steelbook ainsi que la copie digitale
- Un DVD du film dans sa version de 1932

This oak humidor was made (as near as I can figure) between 1890 and early 1900s. It's lined with tin and has a removable metal filter that would have been used to control moisture in the box. The corners are slat joined and nicely mitered at a 45-degree angle.

This Cord was one of the most beautiful and striking cars I've ever had the pleasure of seeing in person. It is low and wide, with teardrop shaped bodywork that is mimicked throughout different areas of the car. Beautiful from every angle, it is literally impossible to take a bad photograph of this car.
Built in the high times of refinement and elegance, this car came with everything. Need a cigar? Check the built in humidor in the driver's door. Care for a single malt scotch? That would be in the bar, built into the passenger's door. From the painstaking detail in the interior to the flawless plum pearl paint, this Cord is truly rolling art. I imagine that driving this car was not viewed as a task in the owner's mind, but an occasion to be savored.

7/4/2010 update - Top Gear S14E02 just mentioned this on the news so I finally got proper info. This is a Knight XV. Built on the Ford F-550 Super Duty chassis and sporting a 6.8-liter biofuel V-10. Weighs 12,000 pounds; costs 650,000 pounds UK! (Or $489000 and up.) 400hp factory, customizable to 550. Options include internet/dvd, a humidor, oxygen survival kit, and full armor plating (able to stop up to a .30 caliber bullet and resist gunfire for up to 24 hours.) AND IT'S MADE IN CANADA. Oh my hellz, it feels so good to say this: TAKE YOUR H2 AND SHOVE IT!

These have been in my humidor for sometime and break them out for the best of days. This happened to be one of them.
And thus, the sags of our epic journey into the mountains continues.
This is a photo of a liquor cabinet in one of the humidors / smoking rooms at the Post Hotel in Lake Louise. This particular cabinet is stocked only with the finest liquers, nothing too hard or heavy, to complement their fine and aromatic cigars.
I don't use either the lighter or that cutter any more. The lighter would only last one cigar and the cutter was less cutty, more squishy.
I use this humidor as my dry box for the cigars I am thinking of smoking soon.
The Cigar Lounge at Breidenbacher Hof is equipped with noble wood panelling and leather flooring. The guests could choose from a wide range of 124 different Cuban and Dominican cigars, all kept fresh in the walkable humidor.
Tobacco leaves are harvested and aged using a process that combines use of heat and shade to reduce sugar and water content without causing the large leaves to rot. This first part of the process, called curing, takes between 25 and 45 days and varies substantially based upon climatic conditions as well as the construction of sheds or barns used to store harvested tobacco. The curing process is manipulated based upon the type of tobacco, and the desired color of the leaf. The second part of the process, called fermentation, is carried out under conditions designed to help the leaf die slowly. Temperature and humidity are controlled to ensure that the leaf continues to ferment, without rotting or disintegrating. This is where the flavor, burning, and aroma characteristics are primarily brought out in the leaf.
Once the leaves have aged properly, they are sorted for use as filler or wrapper based upon their appearance and overall quality. During this process, the leaves are continually moistened and handled carefully to ensure each leaf is best used according to its individual qualities. The leaf will continue to be baled, inspected, un-baled, re-inspected, and baled again repeatedly as it continues its aging cycle. When the leaf has matured according to the manufacturer's specifications, it will be used in the production of a cigar.
Quality cigars are still hand-made. An experienced cigar-roller can produce hundreds of very good, nearly identical, cigars per day. The rollers keep the tobacco moist — especially the wrapper — and use specially designed crescent-shaped knives, called chavetas, to form the filler and wrapper leaves quickly and accurately. Once rolled, the cigars are stored in wooden forms as they dry, in which their uncapped ends are cut to a uniform size. From this stage, the cigar is a complete product that can be "laid down" and aged for decades if kept as close to 21°C (70°F), and 70% relative humidity, as the environment will allow. Once cigars have been purchased, proper storage is usually accomplished by keeping the cigars in a specialized wooden box, or humidor, where conditions can be carefully controlled for long periods of time. Even if a cigar becomes dry, it can be successfully re-humidified so long as it has not been handled carelessly and done so gradually. The loss of original tobacco oils, however, will greatly affect the taste.
Perfect cigar for boiling sap. Pulled this one out of the back of my humidor. Made by Steve Saka of DT&T. Prior he used to run Drew Estate Cigars. Appropriate since he can appreciate our climate. He lives two towns away in a house my mother designed and I almost bought... In the end glad I ended up where I did. Here's to you Steve! And hope your next door neighbor (my uncle) doesn't drive you crazy.
