While wandering around Lisbon, I continued focusing on capturing street portraits, building on what I’ve learned from photographers like Jimmy Nelson and Ovidiu Selaru. Approaching people directly is always a challenge, but it’s so rewarding when it works out.

This portrait was also taken in the São Paulo area, just a few streets away from the black-and-white image of the man smoking. For this one, I felt the colors really brought out the mood and atmosphere. I even asked the man to walk back and forth a few times to get the perfect shot. Let me know what you think of this one!

Three Visitors, One Room: A Gallery in Motion and Pause

They moved slowly, each drawn to something different—a sculpture, a painting, a placard with just enough text to spark thought. One held a guide, another leaned in, and the third stood back, letting the room speak. The dancer in gold held her pose, the portrait watched in profile, and through the doorway, more stories waited in glass and shadow.

Later, when the trip was just a memory, this moment lingered—not for the art alone, but for the way people moved through it. The hush, the light, the shared reverence. Last year, the Body Painting was canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic. This year we have COVID-19 vaccination. Hence, the COVID-19 restrictions for the public are relaxed. The Bodypainting Day took place at Union Square on July 25th. The theme of Bodypainting for this year is resilience and is the eighth anniversary. There were many models and artists participating in this event. After painting, they marched from Union Square through Fifth Avenue to Washington Square Park. Then they took their own bus to Greenpoint for the party.

Her demanding job in the stud house in Melbourne, and the heartwarming memory of forging a great friendship in a foreign land, would surely make her story an inspiration for many upcoming travelers.

"Strangers No More" project: "ELLEN" by Sion Fullana

It's been a while, but I'm happy to be able to continue this project, about subjects that appeared in some candid shots of my street photography finding themselves or being directed to my image, allowing me to gift them a print of said photograph, meet them in person and take their portrait and learn a bit about them. From strangers to Strangers No More...

A few months ago, I attended the launch party of the fashion collection of Clash by Dash in a club in the MeatPacking District. I had collaborated with the designer in several photo shoots and it was a fun night, with models, performances, and a festive mood. I walked around the room taking photographs of people unnoticed, and I posted a few of my favorites here on my account. A day later, the make up stylist who was working on the model found herself in my picture. And with it, please meet the lovely Ellen Geenty, a hair stylist and make up artist, born in upstate NY but raised in North Carolina, where she currently lives, in Raleigh.

I meet with Ellen for coffee while she is visiting NYC again to attend a class, and we talk dreams, career journeys and daring to be adventurous and see where the path can lead you in life. She tells me of the time she sold everything she had and took off to Puerto Rico for a change of air, and how she eventually had to return to NC and start again. I learn that some good friends of Ellen's are pushing for her to take the leap and move to New York. Considering she would love to be able one day to bring her skills with hair and make up to film or TV work, perhaps it's an offer she should take... Should we convince her?

Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta – timeless heritage & intimate wedding rituals by Ben The Man

The Svetitskhoveli Cathedral is located in Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia, about a half-hour drive from Tbilisi. The current church—featuring Romanesque stone walls, remaining frescoes, and gold-framed icons—dates from 1010-1029, but the site has been the spiritual heart of the country since the 4th century. According to tradition, the robe of Christ is buried here; hence, it is the main sanctuary of the Georgian Orthodox Church and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. During our visit, a traditional wedding was taking place: guests in festive attire gathered. You can see the bride and groom—both in the central nave of Svetitskhoveli, the bride in white with a veil. The priest, dressed in red, read prayers for the union from the service book. The two men to the left (in tuxedos) were holding lit candles. They symbolized the friends of the groom and testified that the couple was walking in the light of Christ. The woman directly to the bride's right (in the light blue dress) was also a witness. The woman in the silver-gray dress held the bride's bouquet and acted as the maid of honor. The priest sang in Old Georgian, the candles flickered, and the sound of Psalm 128 filled the space. Georgians sing in three-part harmony a capella; the echo in Svetitskhoveli made it almost heavenly. The atmosphere was intense and powerful—a unique blend of holiness and human connection.

De Svetitskhoveli-kathedraal staat in Mtscheta, de oude hoofdstad van Georgië, op ongeveer een halfuurtje rijden van Tbilisi. De huidige kerk—met romaanse stenen wanden, resterende fresco’s en goudomrande iconen—dateert uit 1010-1029, maar de plek is al sinds de 4e eeuw het geestelijke hart van het land. Volgens de traditie ligt hier het kleed van Christus begraven; daarom is het de hoofd-heiligdom van de Georgisch-Orthodoxe Kerk en staat het op de UNESCO-Werelderfgoedlijst. Tijdens ons bezoek vond er een traditionele bruiloft plaats: gasten in feestelijke kleding verzamelden zich. Je ziet de bruid en bruidegom—beiden in het middenschip van Svetitskhoveli, de bruid in het wit met een sluier. De priester, gehuld in rood, las uit het dienstboek de gebeden voor de verbintenis. De twee mannen links (in smoking) hielden brandende kaarsen vast. Zij stonden symbool voor de “vrienden van de bruidegom” en getuigen dat het paar in het licht van Christus treedt. De vrouw direct rechts van de bruid (in de lichtblauwe jurk) was ook getuige. De vrouw in de zilvergrijze jurk hield het bruidsboeket vast en fungeerde als bruidsmeisje. De priester zong in het Oud-Georgisch, kaarsen flakkerden, en het geluid van Psalm 128 vulde de ruimte. Georgiërs zingen driestemmig a capella; de echo in Svetitskhoveli maakte het bijna hemels. De sfeer was intens en krachtig—aangrijpende mix van heiligheid en menselijke verbondenheid.

I stumbled upon this beautiful market scene while exploring the local streets early this morning. The vibrant display of golden marigolds immediately drew my attention - these flowers are commonly used for temple offerings and special ceremonies here in Vietnam. What struck me most was the quiet conversation between vendors during a slow moment in the market day. The gentleman sat patiently on his red plastic stool while the lady in purple carefully arranged her flower bundles. Behind them, the market continued with its usual rhythm - pomelos stacked in yellow crates, scales ready for weighing, and the everyday tools of street commerce. This authentic slice of Vietnamese market life perfectly captures the human connections that make these local markets so special.
