Human Connections, Mexico promotes ethical tourism in the region, through the interactions it fosters between visitors to Mexico and our local artisan- entrepreneurs. Visitors are invited into the artisans' homes to hear their personal stories and to understand the work behind their craft.

"Les migrants ne sont pas des criminels,

ceux sont des travailleurs internationaux

qui ont besoin de changer de vie"

A woman waits at a bus stop, bathed in gentle afternoon light. Surrounded by others, she exudes calm and quiet reflection, embodying the stillness found in ordinary city moments. The scene captures the warmth of human presence amid urban routine.

I took this shot because it captures the energy of an everyday exchange. Two women pause mid-walk, one balancing a bag on her head with effortless poise, the other carrying a baby on her back, grocery bag in hand. The child’s watchful gaze adds a layer of quiet presence, contrasting with the lively conversation. What makes it work is the sense of rhythm: balancing acts, burdens carried, stories shared, and all against the backdrop of an ordinary street on a sunny day.

This is me talking to my friends who live in my computer...ok, not really, I usually use one of the various IM programs for that, or myspace, or flickr (obviously). Anyway, I wrote this whole blog up on myspace the other day which inspired this photo. I wonder if we as humans are losing our ability to relate face-to-face what with the ease of communicating online...the marvel of online relationships is that you get the human connection without all the mess...it's so easy to present your best self, or any version of yourself that you wish to present...and if anything makes you uncomfortable, you just log off. I wonder if it's too easy and what effect this "easy" route has on "real-life" relationships. This is just some of the randomness that goes on in my head on a daily basis. Although I had an art instructor once who actually got me thinking about this, so at least I'm not alone in the world...or I like to think I'm not!

I forgot, this was a 365 alternate for today...I did the other one first and I should have just saved this idea for tomorrow, but I just couldn't wait lol

...and have you learned that secret from the river? that there is no time.

What do you think of my book?

Okay, to make a long story short, there's this guy who I've got real strong feelings for, and I've been inspired by him for ages and I absolutely cherish him. He just so happens to be a model, and I was wondering if there's any possible way I can meet him.....like maybe at fashion week or something. I live in Connecticut, he lives in New York, and I can easily get to New York if I need to. And there's this crazy situation going on with him. It's a long story so please don't judge, just help me out here. I have no bad intentions, I just love him and really feel for him. Is there a way that I can find the schedule for NY fashion week and possibly find the shows he's in? Is there a way you can meet the models and all that jazz? Please help me. www.World-Movie.net

An elderly man in sunglasses enjoys a quiet coffee at an outdoor café, sharing his space with a bold pigeon mid-flight. The warm sunlight and striped chairs create a casual yet charming scene of everyday city life.

A few times a year, Human Connections organizes GETs (Global Engagement Trips) for student groups, tourists, and other visitors eager to gain a better understanding of the local culture in Nayarit, Mexico. This particular GET group, from Northern Illinois University, participated in a week long program centered around social entrepreneurship, NGO management, and sustainable development.

Scene captured in a covered market in Kolkata. An elderly man in a white kurta with red embroidery, marked with a tilak, sits calmly, his arm resting on a wooden surface. Beside him, a young boy in a striped shirt looks straight into the lens. His gaze is steady, direct—almost adult. Nothing is staged: the moment is caught as it is, between generations, in an everyday setting. Behind them, a glass panel and a hanging calendar reinforce the local, intimate atmosphere.

A couple and their dog move in near-perfect rhythm. Three figures caught mid-stride under the soft evening light of Oostende. The simplicity of it made me smile: the matching pace, the calm intimacy, the quiet choreography of everyday life.

There’s something deeply human in scenes like this. Nothing staged, nothing grand – just a shared moment of motion and companionship against the stillness of sand and sea. These are the fragments I love to catch; small stories hidden in plain sight.

After the 60th anniversary commemoration of D-Day, held In Beaune, France, this lovely couple chatted and chuckled between themselves as they walked towards the "vin d'honneur" - a community food & wine gathering in the town's centre.

Human Connections hosts students from the US twice a year to participate in a 2 week to 2 month long internship program, during the winter and summer seasons, respectively.

Interns immerse themselves in the local culture through interactions with our artisans, with the Bucerías community, and with local homestay families. Interns also contribute much to the work and structure of Human Connections, integrating into the office culture as part of the HC team.

The barbershop has always been a gathering place — a mirror of the community it serves. In San Salvador, there was a time when the streets outside felt uncertain, claimed by fear and shadow. But today, scenes like this tell a different story: laughter, trust, and the ease of daily life returning. The simple act of leaning back in a barber’s chair becomes a quiet symbol of change — of a city reclaiming its rhythm, where ordinary moments are no longer fragile, but safe, steady, and shared.

Met this lovely couple on the seafront in Oostende. She was mid-explanation about a cute dog seafront —hands in the air, eyes lit up. He stood calmly beside her, trolley in tow, the very picture of patient curiosity. A quiet moment full of character.

Arm in arm through the afternoon chill, these two cut quietly through the city’s noise—a mustard coat, a forest green jacket, and decades of knowing how to walk beside each other. She looks down, cautious and grounded. He gazes up, almost searching the sky. A single moment, two directions—yet completely in step.

What makes this special is its honesty: the everyday grace of long companionship. No posing, no performance—just a shared life in stride.
