The Amsterdam School is a style of architecture that arose from 1910 through about 1930 in the Netherlands. The Amsterdam School movement is part of international Expressionist architecture, sometimes linked to German Brick Expressionism (Wikipedia).
Jozef Israëls (1824 – 1911) was a Dutch painter. He was a leading member of the group of landscape painters referred to as the Hague School and, during his lifetime, "the most respected Dutch artist of the second half of the nineteenth century" (Wp).

This image is part of a series I'm doing on metamorphosis, between humans and nature. Although humans have capacity for logic and reasoning we are still meat bodies with rationality yet share some of the same genes of other natural living things like plants and animals. We all rot and we all die. So why are we then destroying our ancestors lineage, with all the damage we do to our environment and nature it’s reflecting back in climate change with nature taking her revenge. Planting a tree helps but changing our government and electing officials who believe in environmental change is the only way we are going to make enough of an impact…End of preach rant.
I am a cat
meditating on the dance floor
observing
see humans jumping
in dresses they wouldn't normally wear
doing things they wouldn't normally do
hugging and spinning
......
what a strange world
how strange humans are
But then again

This is a picture for the Corruption contest. The theme is "Pictures That Tell a Story'". This picture is telling my story, sort of.
Neko avatar landing in this strange place and hidding, hugging the walls and avoiding making waves.
The story behind this picture, that inspired the photoshoot, was that I saw this contest on Flickr, said why not, no idea what this place was, but it must be nice if there is a photo contest there. Funny thing is that at the landing point, rezzing the place, I still had no clue where I was. A friend, IMs me and says she is here too... I walk to her, and I am stopped by a private border. She informs me that this is a group parcel, because this place is special. I read the land description, read between the lines and understand. Ahaha !

It is a great wonder how we humans who live on this planet can look so different. We belong to different races, these races or tribes have different skin color, body shapes, average heights, eye color, face shape, voice, hair, strength... and the list goes on. But something that unites us all is what comes in and out of the eyes no matter what color or shape they are. It has been said that all creatures that have eyes possess a soul. Maybe that which lives inside each of us that we cannot see is using our eyes to communicate and to see. When someone wants you to be honest with them, they ask you to look them straight in the eyes, because the eyes, or what looks through the eyes, is not able to lie. The truth of us, of who we are and of what lives inside us has the eyes for its gateway. If electrical impressions can come in to the eyes, then it would suggest that they can come out in the same way. So much mystery lives in our very own human design...

Having completely decluttered due to a house move 2 years ago, it appears I am becoming a human Magpie again, filling my home with pointless, shiny objects. I googled 'human Magpie' and found the following:
Nine reasons why people have clutter -
1. You have a busy life.
2. You're comfortable with mess.
3. You've suffered an illness or a bereavement.
4. Your life is out of balance.
5. You or someone close to you has cared for someone through a period of depression or illness.
6. One or both parents was a collector/hoarder/inventor or creative.
7. You're struggling with loneliness.
8. Your personality type.
9. We live in a consumer society.
Or indeed none of the above.

Aachen 18.1.25
There were repeated, sometimes violent, actions from the counter-demonstrators against the registered main demonstration and the police forces.

On a lark I picked up an anthology of zombie short fiction at the library the other day. It has been a fun read. In order, I read three short stories, one dealing with what the afterlife for people who have become zombies is like, the next story was about what happened to the zombies after all human life had been eradicated and the third took place in feudal Japan and followed a small group of samurai warriors fending off a zombie assault. I mean, come on, samurai versus zombies? A totally underdeveloped genre. Anyway, it has me in a mildly post-apocalyptic kind of mood and this is a mildly post-apocalyptic kind of image. It was made during that brief span of time when the day is ending, the last of the light draining from the sky and all the ocean promises for those that linger is a cold, windy and dark night ahead. It is that span of time during which most beach-goers retreat to their cars and their cabins, or whatever places they have that promise light and warmth. If you choose to be one of the hardy few souls to remain, you will find an empty, vast and somewhat lonely landscape. With all that in mind, I made this image of the last stragglers of a fleeing species (the day-goers) as they left the beach.
