This is Rumah Betang in Meliau Village, Kapuas hulu, West Kalimantan, Indonesia.
If people have Joglo house in Java,or Gadang house in Padang, the Dayak people have Betang house. For the Dayaks in Kalimantan, Betang House called Lamin or panjal, while outsiders call it a long house. It refers to an elongated shape architecture of the house to the rear. The length of the house increasingly depends on how the number of families who inhabit it. The more number of families who inhabit it, then the longer the Betang house.
Betang house is a kind of house that adapting the shape houses on stilts. Distance of house from the ground can reach more than 2 meters. The selection of a house like this is closely related to the natural conditions of Borneo/Kalimantan which are generally close to major rivers. Thus, when the river overflowed, the water will not enter into the house. Betang house is among the highest in Kalimantan, because the distance from the house to the ground reaches five meters.While the ladder is made from the bark of a tree-shaped staircase steps to avoid a wild animal attacks. In addition, the stairs do not intentionally made permanent, in order to be moved and lifted into the house anytime.
In this house there is a row of rooms or tailless and a wide veranda. Foyer in this house to function other than as a gathering place for the families who occupy this house, as well as a place to perform various ceremonies and customary deliberation. At the very back of the house, there is ample room that serves as a kitchen and a place to store goods yields.

Known as the White Bat Plant, its weird flower arrangement is about one metre from top to bottom, on a spike, also one metre long. Its top bracts consist of two spectacular dorsals usually white and purple stripes and each one about 200mm wide. The true flowers (below dorsals.. centre) are like thick purple buttons and then there are huge purple whiskers which hang from the flowers to about 600mm below.

This Kuka'ilimoku, Ke'aumakua hulu manu, or feathered ancestral diety, was associated with Kamehameha the Great. It was hidden in a cave in Kona following the overthrow of the priesthood in 1819. In 1850, it was presented to the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions.

The Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum, designated the Hawai'i State Museum of Natural and Cultural History, located in the historic Kalihi district, is the largest museum in Hawai'i and home to the world's largest collection of Polynesian cultural and scientific artifact. The museum was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop, in honor of his late wife, Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the last legal heir of the Kamehameha Dynasty. The museum was established to house the collection of Hawaiian artifacts and royal family heirlooms of the Princess, but has since expanded to include millions of artifacts, documents and photographs. Bishop built the Hawaiian Hall and Polynesian Hall on the grounds of the original Kamehameha School for Boys. The Museum and School shared the Kapa-lama campus until 1940 when a new larger school complex was opened nearby, and the museum expanded.

Slow shutter shot at one of a not so famous river in Hulu Langat, Selangor. "Sungai" means river while "congkak" is a traditional folks' game. Not sure how the river got its name, but it is a very beautiful and attractive spot for relaxing and feeling closer to nature.
What is CONGKAK?
The word congkak is believed to originate from old Malay "congak", meaning "mental calculation" which is mainly practiced in this game. It is regarded that an efficient player who mentally calculates a few steps in advance will have an advantage in collecting points to win the game.
The word congkak or congklak also means cowrie shells, used in the game.
The History of CONGKAK
The oldest mancala game boards were found in a ruined fort of Roman Egypt and date back to the 4th century AD. The game was likely introduced to Southeast Asia by Indian or Arab traders in the 15th century.
It is believed to have spread throughout Malay world through merchants via Malacca, an important trading post at that time. In the early days, it was thought that this game was for the king and family and palace residents, however later it spread to the general population of the kingdom. Beside the Malays, the Indian Peranakan also enjoy playing Congkak.
In Java, the term "dakon stone" refers to the similarly pitmarked stones from the bronze-iron age period of Indonesia. These stones have rows of 4 or 5 cup-shaped holes and two holes at each end, a formation which has much in common with that of the similarly named game in Java. This prehistoric dakon stones is unrelated to the game and were probably employed in ceremonies to propitiate ancestors. Such stones can be found around Java.
The current Malaysian Ringgit 10 sen coin has a Congkak board on the reverse in recognition of the long history of congkak in Malaysia.
How it is played?
The Congkak board has fourteen holes in two sets of seven (some have ten holes in two sets of five, some have eighteen holes in two sets of nine), plus an additional bigger store-hole for each player. Each player controls the seven holes on their side of the board, and their score is the number of seeds in their left-hand store. In Indonesia, the holes are called anak ("child"), while the larger store holes are called indung ("mother").
A total of 98 pieces are used in the two sets of seven board version. In Southeast Asia, cowrie shells and tamarind seeds are the most common.[9] Seven seeds are placed in each hole except for the players' store. The objective of the game is to capture more seeds than one's opponent.
Players take turns moving the seeds except in the first move which is performed simultaneously, beginning with the hole closest to his/her own store. After this first simultaneous movement, once the last seed falls into an empty hole, the players' first turn is over and the opponent of the player who reached an empty hole first commences his/her turn after the other player has finished his opening move too. On a turn, a player chooses one of the seven holes under their control. The player removes all seeds from this hole, and distributes them in each hole clockwise[10] from this hole, in a process called sowing. Sowing skips an opponent's store, but does not skip a player's own store.
If a player is unable to fill a hole with seven seeds that hole is considered sunog ("burnt"); all excess seeds are returned to the store. The round begins with the player with no sunog holes taking his/her turn sowing first.
If the last seed falls into an occupied hole, all the seeds are removed from that hole, and are sown starting from that hole. The process continues until the last seed falls into a player's store, or an empty hole.
If the last seed sown falls into a player's own store, they immediately earn another turn, which can begin at any of the seven holes under their control.
The game ends, when a player has no seeds in his holes at the start of his turn. The remaining seeds are awarded to his opponent.
The objective of the game is to capture more seeds than one's opponent.
