When we talk about "tree huggers" we are usually talking about people. Looking at this, I see one tree hugging another.

"A lovely hug."
Basta sentirsi amati. E amare.

"This life is yours. Take the power to choose what you want to do and do it well. Take the power to love what you want in life and love it honestly. Take the power to walk in the forest and be a part of nature. Take the power to control your own life. No one else can do it for you. Take the power to make your life happy."

This is another capture (single exposure) from my "minus tide" photo shoot this morning.
It's funny that I was standing next to this rock before sunrise wondering where all the darned starfish were, only to later find out they were right next to me the whole time. Go figure...
In any case, this capture was challenging because I had my Lee 0.9 soft grad ND filter rotated almost fully 90 degrees in an attempt to balance the exposure of the right-hand side vs. left-hand side of the photo. My camera was tripod-mounted and using wired remote shutter release as usual. Manual focus with 1 meter setting. I chose f/13 which seems to be a "safe" setting for nice detail and good depth of field.
This photo is slightly cropped because I made a rookie error and did not notice that one of my tripod legs was visible in the frame (duh...).
Taken while waiting in the car for ,my lady to finish her shopping in the Wyoming suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio.
I'd seen this unique building and sign for many years and wanted to capture it. I lucked out when I had my camera and a beautiful sky. I'm just captivate by how clean white it is, the stair step shape of the roof and the fact that "HUG" is in block letters while "Jewelers" is in script. The other thing that I think worked well is that I was too lazy to get out of the car and took the shots through the car's open window. I like the different perspective I got and will try to remember to try more thing like it in the future.
I've always wondered where HUG comes from (giving your loved one a hug or ???). Well a quick look at their website reveals all:
"THE HUG JEWELERS STORY
Hug Jeweler’s has been providing quality service for over 120 years. The birth of their legacy dates back to the 1880s when Mr. Schemel founded Schemel’s Jewelers with a young teen-aged apprentice, Andy Hug, under his wing. Inspired by his mentor’s influence, Andy carried on the Schemel name when he purchased the business to pursue his passion in 1920.
The family celebrated its second generation in the business when Andy took on his own apprentice, nephew Richard Hug, in 1932. With several classes from the Gemological Institute Of America under his belt, it was Richard’s turn to enrich the family tradition when he opened his own store under the Hug name in 1942.
Like many family businesses at the time, Hug Jewelers was put on hold when Richard was drafted into the Army to serve in World War II. After his return home in 1951, Richard reopened his store, applying his unique vision of the future of jewelry to carry Hug Jewelers forward for the next twenty-five years.
The legacy continued when his son Larry Hug took charge of the business in 1976, joined in 1984 by his brother Steve Hug. To this day, Larry and Steve share ownership of Hug Jewelers, Inc. and take great pride upholding the rich heritage of their family craft along with Steve’s wife Karen and daughter Jade."
