3 days of intense work to make this huge panorama of Cologne, Germany's fourth-largest city. This is a 360 degrees view, I tried to get as many details as possible, sometimes repainting different parts of the cityscape. The original composition is really big (almost 20.000 pixels wide!) because I assembled more than 30 photos. I took all of them when I was in Germany 2 weeks ago... (FYI, I didn't use any autopano or fisheye).
More facts: The city's famous Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) is the seat of the Catholic Archbishop of Cologne. The University of Cologne (Universität zu Köln) is one of Europe's oldest universities.
Cologne is a major cultural center of the Rhineland and has a vibrant arts scene. Cologne is home to more than 30 museums and hundreds of galleries. Exhibitions range from local ancient Roman archeological sites to contemporary graphics and sculpture. The Cologne Trade Fair hosts a number of trade shows such as Art Cologne, imm Cologne International Furniture Fair and the Photokina. Cologne is also well-known for its celebration of Cologne Carnival, the annual reggae summerjam, and Cologne Gay Pride.
Within Germany, Cologne is also known as an important media center. Several radio and television stations, including Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), RTL and VOX, have their headquarters in the city.

Toronto is the provincial capital of Ontario. With a recorded population of 2,731,571 in 2016, it is the most populous city in Canada and the fourth most populous city in North America. It was designated as the capital of the province of Ontario in 1867 during Canadian Confederation. The city proper has since expanded past its original borders through both annexation and amalgamation to its current area of 630.2 km2 (243.3 sq mi).
The diverse population of Toronto reflects its current and historical role as an important destination for immigrants to Canada. The CN Tower (French: Tour CN) is a 553.3 m-high (1,815.3 ft) concrete communications and observation tower located in Downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Built on the former Railway Lands, it was completed in 1976. Its name "CN" originally referred to Canadian National, the railway company that built the tower. Following the railway's decision to divest non-core freight railway assets prior to the company's privatization in 1995, it transferred the tower to the Canada Lands Company, a federal Crown corporation responsible for real estate development.
The CN Tower held the record for the world's tallest free-standing structure for 32 years until 2007 when it was surpassed by the Burj Khalifa, and was the world's tallest tower until 2009 when it was surpassed by the Canton Tower. It is now the ninth tallest free-standing structure in the world and remains the tallest free-standing structure on land in the Western Hemisphere. In 1995, the CN Tower was declared one of the modern Seven Wonders of the World by the American Society of Civil Engineers. It also belongs to the World Federation of Great Towers.

Difícil decisión. Mi familia y amigos ya están deseando ver las fotografías de mi viaje a Suiza. Hay mucho donde elegir, pero, ¿cómo ir dosificando contenidos?. Podía seguir una secuencia temporal como hice con otros viajes, pero en esta ocasión prefiero hacer series temáticas, y como no podía ser de otro modo, mi primera foto tiene como protagonista a uno de mis objetos fetiche, mis queridos bancos.
Esta parejita la cacé a orillas el lago Thun, en el Oberland bernés, al atardecer. El color verde del lago no es fruto de mi afición a la saturación, os prometo que allí los lagos tienen un colorido increible; azul turquesa, verde esmeralda, gris hielo... un regalo para la vista.

Waddesdon Manor is a country house in the village of Waddesdon, in Buckinghamshire, England. The house was built in the Neo-Renaissance style of a French château between 1874 and 1889 for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild (1839–1898). Since this was the preferred style of the Rothschild's it became also known as the Goût Rothschild. The house, set in formal gardens and an English landscape park, was built on a barren hilltop overlooking Waddesdon village. The last member of the Rothschild family to own Waddesdon was James de Rothschild. He bequeathed the house and its contents to the National Trust in 1957. Today, following an extensive restoration, it is administered by a Rothschild charitable trust that is overseen by Jacob Rothschild, 4th Baron Rothschild. In 2007–08 it was the National Trust's second most visited paid-entry property, with 386,544 visitors. The Baron wanted a house in the style of the great Renaissance châteaux of the Loire Valley. The Baron, a member of the Viennese branch of the Rothschild banking dynasty, chose as his architect Gabriel-Hippolyte Destailleur. Destailleur was already experienced in working in this style, having overseen the restoration of many châteaux in that region, in particular that of the Château de Mouchy. Through Destailleur's vision, Waddesdon embodied an eclectic style based on the châteaux so admired by his patron, Baron Ferdinand. The towers at Waddesdon were based on those of the Château de Maintenon, and the twin staircase towers, on the north facade, were inspired by the staircase tower at the Château de Chambord. However, following the theme of unparalleled luxury at Waddesdon, the windows of the towers at Waddesdon were glazed, unlike those of the staircase at Chambord. They are also far more ornate. The structural design of Waddesdon, however, was not all retrospective. Hidden from view were the most modern innovations of the late 19th century including a steel frame, which took the strain of walls on the upper floors, which consequently permitted the layout of these floors to differ completely from the lower floors. The house also had hot and cold running water in its bathrooms, central heating, and an electric bell system to summon the numerous servants. The building contractor was Edward Conder & Son. The towers were modelled on the staircase towers of Château de Chambord. One of the twin staircase-towers inspired by those at the Château de Maintenon. Once his château was complete, Baron Ferdinand installed his extensive collections of French 18th-century tapestries, boiseries, furniture and ceramics, English and Dutch paintings and Renaissance works of art. Extensive landscaping was carried out and the gardens enhanced with statuary, pavilions and an aviary. The Proserpina fountain was brought to the manor at the end of the 19th Century from the Palace of the Dukes of Parma in northern Italy: the Ducal Palace of Colorno. The gardens and landscape park were laid out by the French landscape architect Elie Lainé. An attempt was made to transplant full-grown trees by chloroforming their roots, to limit the shock. While this novel idea was unsuccessful, many very large trees were successfully transplanted, causing the grounds to be such a wonder of their day that, in 1890, Queen Victoria invited herself to view them. The Queen was, however, more impressed by the electric lighting in the house than the wonders of the park. Fascinated by the invention she had not seen before, she is reported to have spent ten minutes switching a newly electrified 18th-century chandelier on and off. When Baron Ferdinand died in 1898, the house passed to his sister Alice de Rothschild, who further developed the collections. Baron Ferdinand's collection of Renaissance works and a collection of arms were both bequeathed to the British Museum as the "Waddesdon Bequest". During World War II, children under the age of five were evacuated from London and lived at Waddesdon Manor. Following Alice de Rothschild's death in 1922, the property and collections passed to her great-nephew James A. "Jimmy" de Rothschild of the French branch of the family, who further enriched it with objects from the collections of his late father Baron Edmond James de Rothschild of Paris. When James de Rothschild died in 1957, he bequeathed Waddesdon Manor, 200 acres (0.81 km2) of grounds and its contents to the National Trust, to be preserved for posterity. The Trust also received their largest ever endowment from him: £750,000 (£15,310,270 as of 2014).

Located in Grand Forks, this motel has it all, as the sign board says!! Yes, I called and spoke to a nice gentleman there who informed me of the rates:
Small Room = $37.40 per day or $165.00 weekly ($23.00 per day)
Kitchenette = $41.00 per day or $192.50 weekly ($27.50 per day)
I didn't ask, but this establishment probably didn't care if you did more than just sleep in the room, for example you could watch HBO.....and remember this is the "Lucky" Inn.....:-))

On March 19, 2009, between 1.2 (police source) and 3 million (organizers) people demonstrated in France to protest against Sarkozy's policies and his handling of the crisis. Clashes with the riot police erupted at the end of the demonstration place de la Nation , where 300 people were arrested and 49 convicted.

En las cercanías del Palacio de Gosálvez, se encuentra la Ermita de Santiago Apóstol, construida en honor a Santiago Gosálvez, el antepasado de la familia que, en 1842, estableció las fábricas de harina, hilados y papel continuo en el Puente de Don Juan. La ermita se construyó entre 1946 y 1948 en estilo neogótico, a base de muros de tapial y verdugadas de ladrillo. Sus ventanales (dos a cada lado y tres en la cabecera) así como el arco de la portada, son apuntados. Sobre esta última figura una gran hornacina con un arco de ladrillo de medio punto. En ella había un colorido fondo de azulejos historiado de Santiago Matamoros. La fachada se remata con un pequeño frontón cuadrado de ladillo que, a modo de espadaña, alberga el hueco de la campana. The Chapel of "Santiago Apóstol" (St. James) is located next to Palace of Gosálvez. It was built in honor of Santiago Gosálvez, the ancestor of the family who, in 1842, established flour, textile and paper industries in "Puente de Don Juan", near Villalgordo del Júcar (Albacete, Spain). The chapel was built between 1946 and 1948 in Neo Gothic style, with walls of mud and rows of bricks. The windows (two on each side and three on the header) and the arc of the façade are pointed. Above the latter there was a niche with a half point brick arch with a colorful historiated background of tiles depicting "Santiago Matamoros" in it. The parks consist of a combined area of 131,983 acres (534.12 km2) located entirely within Del Norte and Humboldt Counties and they protect 45% of all remaining Coastal Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) old-growth forests, totaling at least 38,982 acres (157.75 km2). These trees are the tallest and one of the most massive tree species on Earth. In addition to the redwood forests, the parks preserve other indigenous flora, fauna, grassland prairie, cultural resources, portions of rivers and other streams, and 37 miles (60 km) of pristine coastline.

Una climatología más bien mala, un tremendo dolor de espalda, mucho trabajo, y ganas de practicar mi afición favorita.
Manos a la obra. En casita, con una tela negra y cualquier objeto que tengas a mano, cámara en trípode, y a practicar iluminaciones.
El bodegón es una especialidad que no he practicado hasta ahora, y aunque parece sencillo, cuando te pones a ello comienzas a ver las dificultades.
Acostumbrado a la fotografía de paisajes, donde el escenario está colocado por la madre naturaleza, y sólo tienes que componer con los elementos que tienes ante tus ojos, el bodegón supone un gran reto, porque tienes que crear tú mismo la escena, colocando cada objeto con precisión, teniendo en cuenta formas, texturas, colores, proporciones, fondo, suelo, iluminación.
Las posibilidades son infinitas, y es necesario realizar un gran esfuerzo de creatividad, y al mismo tiempo emplear todos los conocimientos aprendidos para no fracasar.
Y no puedes echar la culpa a nadie, porque todo el proceso está bajo tu control.
Cuando se tiene experiencia, seguro que puedes hacer un bodegón con los ojos cerrados, pero os prometo que he pasado más tiempo colocando manzanitas y tomates que disparando y procesando las fotografías.
Lo cierto es que me ha enganchado, espero ir aumentando mi galería de bodegones (naturaleza muerta que dicen los guiris) poco a poco.
La mayoría de los especialistas en bodegones utilizan flashes fuera de cámara para iluminar sus creaciones, pero me gusta más utilizar técnicas de light painting como las que últimamente he practicado en exteriores, con linternas.
Pintar con luz un bodegón me parece mucho más sencillo, práctico y barato que usar flashes con difusores, disparos remotos etc. Ese tipo de iluminación de estudio está bien para retrato, donde tienes un modelo que está vivo (y se mueve).
Pero si lo que tienes son dos cuchillos y un tomate, o una piedra, no van a salir corriendo, ni se van a aburrir de verte alrededor con tu linterna.
La mayor ventaja de usar linternas es que puedes ver los efectos de la luz en distintas posiciones, con las sombras proyectadas, brillos, etc en tiempo real y antes de hacer el disparo.
Una vez tienes claro cómo vas a iluminar, luz apagada, modo bulb y a pintar con la linterna (un poco de luz ambiente, una luz más intensa en un punto concreto, perfilando los bordes de un objeto, etc... Los resultados son fantásticos, os invito a probarlo. Todo el mundo puede hacerlo en su casa. Sólo hay que superar que los de casa te tomen por loco cuando comiences a montar el chiringuito (pero seguro que no se sorprenden; ya conocen tu locura......)
