Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choi_Hung_Estate:
Choi Hung Estate (彩虹邨; lit. 'rainbow estate') is a public housing estate in Ngau Chi Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was built by the former Hong Kong Housing Authority (屋宇建設委員會) and is now managed by the current Hong Kong Housing Authority. It received a Silver Medal at the 1965 Hong Kong Institute of Architects Annual Awards.
Choi Hung Estate is located in Ngau Chi Wan and is surrounded by several of eastern Kowloon Peninsula's major roads. To the north is Lung Cheung Road; to the south Prince Edward Road East; to the west Kwun Tong Bypass and to the east Clear Water Bay Road.
The Hong Kong government granted the land to the Hong Kong Housing Authority to build a large housing estate in 1958. The blocks of the estate were completed between 1962 and 1964. An opening ceremony was held in 1963 with the presence of then Hong Kong Governor, Sir Robert Brown Black. A signboard commemorating the ceremony is located in the estate's Lam Chung Avenue.
Accommodating nearly 43,000 people, it was the largest public housing estate at the time.
In November 2023 it was reported that Choi Hung Estate was earmarked for redevelopment meaning that 43,000 residents will require rehoming.
In October 2024, the redevelopment plan was revealed in the Wong Tai Sin District Council. It was proposed to demolish Tan Fung House, Pik Hoi House, Kam Pik House, Market and two former Sheng Kung Hui primary schools buildings in between 2028 and 2029 as the first phase, residents in the three blocks will be settled to the new blocks in Mei Tung Estate. Once the first phase is expected to complete in between 2035 and 2036, the blocks will settle the residents in Pak Suet House, Hung Ngok House, Kam Wan House and Kam Wah House when the next phase begins. The final phase is expected to begin in between 2042 and 2043, the residents in the last remaining blocks (Chi Mei House, Luk Ching House, Chui King House and Kam Hon House) will be settled to the new blocks in the second phase. The number of units will be increased to 9200 once the entire redevelopment plan is completed in between 2048 and 2049.
The estate has 11 residential blocks, one car park, and five schools, with various shops and restaurants on the ground floor of each block. Roads in the estate connect the blocks to each other and to major roads.
According to the 2016 by-census, Choi Hung Estate had a population of 18,435. The median age was 48 and the majority of residents (96 per cent) were of Chinese ethnicity. Cantonese was the predominant usual spoken language (93 per cent), followed by other varieties of Chinese excluding Mandarin (4.5 per cent), non-English and non-Chinese languages (2 per cent), Mandarin (0.5 per cent), and English (0.3 per cent).
The average household comprised 2.5 persons. The median monthly household income of all households (i.e. including both economically active and inactive households) was HK$15,290.
The estate is photogenic and has become a tourism hot-spot. The most photographed view of the estate includes the basketball court and rainbow apartments behind. Some journalists and researchers have been vocal against the growing Instagram popularity of the area, criticising that it is a shallow view of the complex social history of the council estate in Hong Kong, as well as driving away locals who want to use the space. Though some locals have also begun selling photos for profit to tourists. It has been suggested that the location is popular not only for the aesthetics, but also because it allows the photographers and selfie-takers to feel as if they are in the middle of the world - compared to the more detached equally-aesthetic Hong Kong skyline shots. In 2017, a photograph of the building was shortlisted for the Arcaid Award, an architecture photography prize.

Oh no-there`s got to be a better way
Say it again
There`s got to be a better way-yeah
What is it good for?
War has caused unrest
Among the younger generation
Induction then destruction
Who wants to die?
War-huh
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Say it again
War-huh
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Yeah
War-I despise
`Cos it means destruction
Of innocent lives
War means tears
To thousands of mothers how
When their sons go off to fight
And lose their lives
I said
War-huh
It`s an enemy of all mankind
No point of war
`Cos you`re a man
Give it to me one time-now
Give it to me one time-now
War has shattered
Many young men`s dreams
We`ve got no place for it today
They say we must fight to keep our freedom
But Lord, there`s just got to be a better way
It ain`t nothing but a heartbreaker
War
Friend only to the undertaker
War
War
War-Good God, now
Now
Give it to me one time now
Now now
What is it good for?

e, perchè no...:

"[...] Anche le reclute vanno a Cagliari cantando, perchè Cagliari è la Bandiera, perchè Cagliari è l'Avventura, è la Luna da toccare con mano, è l'Iniziazione ai Misteri."
Salvatore Cambosu - Miele amaro

Having passed the catenary inspector, the next interesting train and last that we would catch in Matapozuelos was the transfer of the 446.003 and the 446.118 – that last one in its original livery and with the pantographs down and the doors opened – from Fuencarral to Valladolid.
Willrow Hood is a background character in The Empire Strikes Back who is seen very briefly running through the halls of Cloud City after Lando orders the evacuation. Over the years he developed a bit of a cult following, with fans nicknaming him “Ice Cream Maker Guy” due to the late-70s frozen dessert maker he carries with him as he makes his escape.
As his popularity grew, the character was officially named and given a back story. A fan website sprung up, too, its sole purpose to petition Hasbro to create a figure of the infamous Ice Cream Maker Guy.
It worked. Willrow Hood has been in immortalized in plastic and is now hitting store shelves. Oddly, I’ve chosen to commemorate this by casting him in… Lego. :D

This is one of the most photographed boats at Dungeness. The rail on the left gives you a classic "leading line" composition, and it's general state of repair makes it highly photogenic!
There's an old shed just behind where I took the picture from, and the pebbles around it have a faint smell of diesel that you can't help but notice. Smoking in this area is probably not a good idea!
I usually shoot with the Nikon 14-24mm when I go down to Dungeness, but this time I also took the Nikon 35mm f/1.4 as it's such a great little lens. If you're ever on the fence about buying it then just go for it, it's fantastic and you won't be disappointed.

Masjid Sultan (Malay for Sultan Mosque; is located at Muscat Street and North Bridge Road within the Kampong Glam district of Rochor Planning Area in Singapore. The mosque is considered one of the most important mosques in Singapore. The prayer hall and domes highlight the mosque's star features.
Architect Denis Santry of Swan and Maclaren adopted a Saracenic style, incorporating minarets and balustrades. The mosque was completed after four years in 1928.
Sultan Mosque has stayed essentially unchanged since it was built, with only repairs carried out to the main hall in the 1960s and an annex added in 1993. It was gazetted as a national monument on 14 March 1975.

The Vulturine Guineafowl (Acryllium vulturinum) is the largest and most spectacular of the guineafowl bird family. It is a resident breeder in northeast Africa, from southern Ethiopia through Kenya and just into northern Tanzania.
It breeds in dry and open habitats with scattered bushes and trees, such as savannah or grassland. It lays its usually 4-8 cream-coloured eggs in a well-hidden grass-lined scrape.
although all other guineafowl have unfeathered heads, this species looks particularly like a vulture because of the long bare neck and head.
The slim neck projects from a cape of long, glossy, blue and white hackles. The breast is cobalt blue, and the rest of the body plumage is black, finely spangled with white.
The sexes are similar, although the female is usually slightly smaller than the male and with smaller tarsal spurs. Young birds are mainly grey-brown, with a duller blue breast and short hackles.
Vulturine Guineafowl is a gregarious species, forming flocks outside the breeding season typically of about 25 birds. This species' food is seeds and small invertebrates. This guineafowl is terrestrial, and will run rather than fly when alarmed. Despite the open habitat, it tends to keep to cover, and roosts in trees. It makes loud chink-chink-chink-chink-chink calls.

Bicycle wheels and old plastic bottles are among the recycled items on decoration at a coffee shop in Hanoi, Vietnam. Discarded wheels, wheel parts and plastic items have been turned into interior decorations at a Hanoi shop.
95% of the decorative items on display in the coffee shop are recycled items. Bicycle wheels and old plastic bottles are key decorative items. All recycled items have been hand-made. Each item is handmade from discarded wheels, plastic bits, bottles and other upcycled rubbish.
There’s an old Vespa converted into a dining table and a series of smaller tables made of used car tires. On the walls, bicycle wheels and tire plates give the café a shabby-chic vibe.
Every piece of decor has a whimsical, artistic vibe. The café is definitely a cool find you’d want to run and tell your friends about.
Foreign tourists are surprised at seeing lights made from plastic bottles. The shop has a total of four floors. Many discarded plastic bottles have been used to decorate the ceiling, creating an eye-catching look. 1,000 plastic bottles containing coloured powder and water makes for an eye-catching spectacle.
The mural paintings on the wall leave a good impression on customers.
Nguyen Tho, the shop owner, said using the recycled items aims to raise people’s awareness of environmental protection.

The Library of Congress Steel workers in Denver
I claim no rights other than colorizing this image if you wish to use let me know
Title
Denver, Colorado. Twenty-four hours a day the sparks from acetylene torches of steel workers in eight Denver fabricating plants are flying thick and fast that the U.S. Navy may carry the battle to the enemy in all parts of the world. Here in secluded Denver, the world's largest city not on a navigable waterway, this war production worker, who has never seen a battleship or an ocean, fashions the steel hull parts which are being assembled at Mare Island Navy Yard--1,200 miles from where he and his fellow wokers are on the job to help "keep 'em sailling."

Mar adentro,
mar adentro.
Y en la ingravidez del fondo
donde se cumplen los sueños
se juntan dos voluntades
para cumplir un deseo.
Un beso enciende la vida
con un relámpago y un trueno
y en una metamorfosis
mi cuerpo no es ya mi cuerpo,
es como penetrar al centro del universo.
El abrazo más pueril
y el más puro de los besos
hasta vernos reducidos
en un único deseo.
Tu mirada y mi mirada
como un eco repitiendo, sin palabras
‘más adentro’, ‘más adentro’
hasta el más allá del todo
por la sangre y por los huesos.
Pero me despierto siempre
y siempre quiero estar muerto,
para seguir con mi boca
enredada en tus cabellos.

Shadow Hunter
There are methodical photographers who dedicate hours to every photo controlling every little detail of light and composition. On the opposite side there are those who armed with their cameras are hungry for images like a hunter looking for his prey. They don’t know where nor when they’ll find this image. They’re not familiar with the place, the light or “the model”. But at any given time they’ll stumble upon it and shoot without thinking twice, feeling the rush of the hunter becoming the hunted.
Billy Gómez belongs to this lineage of camouflaged, instinctive, risk-taking, quick draw and crack shot photographers. He has become a creative and active witness of the streets of Seoul. Its inhabitants are the driving force behind his work with their hectic routines, their depression and loneliness etched on their faces. The metro, train and the streets are his usual scenes. As in this image, the people he photographs are alone, lost in thought and with an expression of defeat almost as if they were prisoners to a life they hadn’t dreamt of. They look through the windows with their imagination trying to escape but all they find are others like them who are just as lonely and lost.
Billy is aware of the fact that with his camera he is going to steal sad and intimate moments in public places with no previous permission and this has its risks. However this also turns the moment of capture into something exciting, disturbing and unpredictable. With his sensitive and lyrical voyeurism he turns everything he sees into art.
He develops his photographs in a way to increase the loneliness of the lives of the human beings he portrays. By adding a vignette to every one of his subjects and darkening the borders it seems like they are surrounded by shadows. With his camera he immortalizes these sad inhabitants and it can be said that his voyeurism of anonymous men and women is taxidermal.
Billy Gómez (Los Angeles, 1971)
Born in America he moved to Seoul in 2005 to teach English. His job leaves him with a lot of free time and soon he decides to make the most of it by taking photographs. After a few years of fooling around, experimenting and searching he starts to define his style - a combination of voyeurism and spontaneous portrait. The result is a lucid and sad x-ray of a city, Seoul and its inhabitants.
With a telephoto lens, a 50mm and lately an iPhone that allows him to go unnoticed, he hits the streets in search of the right light and perfect moment. Not being able to control light as one would in a studio makes post-production more laborious. The search for the right light is now one of this visual poet’s priorities in the streets of Seoul. A hunter of light and above all shadows.
