The finished product as compared to its inspiration.

This shot is one in a series about engraving stones and tiles using a sandblaster.

Full description of the sandblasting process here: buildmakecraftbake.com/2009/03/how-to-tuesday-sandblastin...

I stood mostly behind the podium but would come out in front of I had a long story to tell. I even had another laptop with all the slides on it so I knew what picture was coming next.

Materials:

- One half yard of fabric is enough to make one small and one large box with the above dimensions,

- 1.25yd Featherweight Fusible Interfacing to make 2 small + 2 large boxes,

- Thread to match fabric,

- Sewing machine,

- Scissors, iron, ironing board

Original instructions from Design*Sponge: Sewing 101: Tissue Box Cover by Brett Bara (it's a really solid tutorial!).

Here is the finished lens. From here if the hole is too small (a lot of refraction - take a photo of something bright white in full sun and look at the edges) you can carefully use the needle on both sides of the lens to round out the hole larger. Do this in small incremental steps so you don't oversize the hole. Once the hole is too large there is no way to make it smaller. However making a new aluminum disk is easy. Just replace the disk with a new one following steps 4-14.

An example of using an interesting and unusual housing for an arcade stick.

Position the original on the pad, looking through the top of the printer and adjusting as necessary.

I shot a short tutorial on my three favorite weathering techniques... and if I can figure out how to edit the brightness on the videos I'll get it online.

Windows Movie Maker crashes on start-up and the fixes I found online haven't worked. I've downloaded two other video editing programs that don't allow me to edit brightness. Good times.

This photo shows the end results.

This turned out to be a super camera.

I bought it on ebay cheap with a broken battery door.

The velcro I used to fix the battery door makes a fine grip

and I actually like it better than the z2 we have that's mint.

What I doodled on my scratchboard

Once the layers are quilted together iron the placemat flat again.

Use two screws to attach the support plank to the horizontal plank, starting with the left support and then going to the right support, before working on the next horizontal plank down.

Be sure to make sure that each plank is even with the previous one as you move downwards. You may need a second pair of hands and some strength to hold slightly warped boards even.

16" high-density foam cube.

This cube was made by gluing scraps of 5" foam together, then laminating 1/2" foam on all sides.

As shown, this cube has a slipcover made from sheeting fabric. This protects the foam and makes it easier to put the outer cover on.

Wrap the felt strip around the foil, hot gluing it in place. See details on my blog.
