Just a side view of the back. Light tent made from sections of pvc pipe. I used sections coupled with joints so that I could add different pieces to hold supports or places to hand backdrop paper or light diffusion screens.

"Black" Battery Holder Modification

If you don't have a stand alone battery charger for your extra rechargeable batteries, or you've lost or broken the yellow battery holder, you can modify your radio to recharge your batteries with the black holder. Remember, don't plug your radio in if you're using alkaline batteries in the black case after completing this mod.

Open the battery door, and remove the batteries and holder.

Remove the four screws located on the back of the case.

Carefully pry the back half of the case off.

Locate the three metal strips at the bottom of the pc board on the right hand side.

Locate the two strips spaced closest to each other, and solder a jumper to these two strips.

I needed to file the area for the solder to take.

Reassemble the radio in the reverse order you disassembled it.

You will now be able to recharge batteries using the black holder. Again, use only rechargeable batteries with this mod. If you attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries in your radio, you will cause the batteries to leak or explode.

I did this mod using a tiny wire and it only took a few minutes.

It's working fine.

Third, prop the pole over a convenient railing and tie it to the deck. I had to drill a hole in the handle to put the rope through. I didn't want it slipping off.

I use an infrared remote to trigger the camera. I need to invest in a 30-foot USB cable so I can trigger it from the computer and see what the framing is like.

You want to hinge the mat to the backing board. I use tyvek tape for this, too. Simply cut a length that's not quite as long as the backing board and apply it up top with the two boards openeed up like a book.
