A quick demonstration. More info. (Sorry about all the work-related screencasts, friends.)

Once the vanes are removed, the Jimi™ will close perfectly.

on the sides of the back where the dotted line is in the pattern.

This view shows the 1/4" nut held in place by silicone and the wires routed around the sides. A thin nut was used. Near the nut you can see the red wire appears to turn to a black wire. I ran out of red so used black to jump across.

The positive leads are on the top, the negative leads are on the bottom. I first soldered the two LED pairs together with their own leads, cut off the excess then used the battery box wires to tie them all together. Be carefull when removing the extra spring in the battery compartment where the LED's are. My flew away and I was lucky to find it.

Using a nut instead of a bolt allows me to remove the bolt for a clean appearance when used as a flashlight. A threaded rod could be used also.

When you get to the point to cast on for front and back, using same yarn just do knitted cast on as follows:

*Knit 1, leaving stitch on left needle. Transfer new stitch onto left needle by slipping it knit-wise. Repeat from *

Knitted cast-on leaves the sideseems very strechy and you don't have to bother casting-on separately and then connecting them to the main piece and hiding ends...;)

Sew a couple stitches in the middle of the chiffon/tulle stack, just to prevent the layers from sliding around.

Here you can see that this cheap craft store necklace chain + clasp have lost their silver-plating. Additionally, this chain has reacted with my skin and turned it green. One of the best ways to prevent this from happening with jewelry chains, is to use a higher quality metal (i.e. sterling silver, not sterling silver-plated).

I'm not sure what to do with the white corners of the frames on this page. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to change their color from within Comic Life. Maybe when I have the time I'll open it up in Gimpshop and fill in the corners with black or something.

This is my Jimi™. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It has spent the last three or four years sharing a pocket with my house keys and has stood up pretty well.

In order to get nice, crisp hexagon edges, it is best to use some sort of implement (like a bone folder) to press at the seams a bit and make sure all the corners are nice and pointy.

Please don't make me eat hard-cooked yolks. =(

Next, push the pole out over the pool. I have the advantage of a deck that's slightly above the top of the pool. It would be harder otherwise.

Flip the flower over (to the non-bunch-sewn side) and sew your embellishment to the center of the top flower layer. I used a handful of gold seed beads, but you could use a fancy button or a large bead.

Light tent made from sections of pvc pipe. I used sections coupled with joints so that I could add different pieces to hold supports or places to hang backdrop paper or light diffusion screens.

Sorry about the window glare.

For step by step instructions on the most mind-blowing (in relative terms) scarf-tying method ever, peep this post: www.kadavy.net/blog/posts/how-to-tie-a-scarf/

Sew your fabric circles together, with the smallest ones nested in the larger ones. You may also wish to add your embellishment to the center of the smallest circle at this time.

1. Soak in soapy water.

2. Transfer to mesh bag and rinse in bathtub.

3. Use laundry basket, lined with towel, to carry to living room.

4. Dump out on towels on living room floor, with fan blowing.
