Shortly after the battle of Hoth, Imperial troops return to scavenge materials and information from Echo Base.
A build I've had sitting around for a while, I wanted to play around with a little camerawork and editing.
A small styrofoam display for my Hoth rebels (and probe droid). I started doing a trench but I changed my mind and wanted something a little more fantastical. I left the arch unattached so that I can swap it out for other ice rocks to change up the display.
How long were the Rebels based on Hoth before the Empire discovered them? Reddit posts tend to put it down to around a month or few weeks (adapting the snowspeeders to the cold, Han and Luke looking for signs of life) but in my head-canon I like to have them there for a year or so, enough time to explore Hoth and have some adventures along the way. Of course the dialogue is only there to serve the story so it's a moot point anyway but it's fun to speculate :-)
[Hunters]
A group of Mandalorian hunters has landed on Hoth. Boba Fett amongst them. I couldn't leave Hoth alone without these guys standing in the snow. Here there are two lights, set to high intensity, just outside the frame. I wanted the feel of ship landing lights on these guys. This however is the last photo from Hoth, for now.
Re-edit of my Hoth picture. I wasn't happy with the blending on the original. This is slightly better... In my opinion 😄
Worst jobs in the Empire : Part #1
AT class mobile assault transports use thousands of megawatts of energy during their rebellion crushing activies [citation needed]. The waste products generated are taken care of by the 604th Transport Hygine Squad who bury the offending articles in the snow.
It's time for some answers, Han and Nien know how to get them.
Vintage Star Wars Kenner Customs: Week II
Geez, almost two months since my last post? I guess I've been so busy with school I've totally forgot to upload stuff, I've actually got some stuff I'm working, I'll try to get it up over Christmas break. Anyways, here's some Hoth rebels, based on random images from the internet, enjoy!
Tauntauns are a species of snow lizard found roaming the windswept snow plains of Hoth. The Rebel Alliance domesticated the swift creature during their stay on the ice planet, and used the animals for patrol duties outside Echo Base. The animals came in useful as the Rebel technicians had difficulty adapting their repulsorlift speeders to the subzero temperatures. Though tauntauns are sure-footed and well equipped to handle Hoth's daytime temperature, the chilling extremes of a Hoth night will prove deadly.
Getting close on two more for the Hoth display. Going so slow, not much time for building lately. The 4 panel and two heads. I'm amazed how much of the brick I have in my inventory, about 90-95% of it. Thinking the display will not be ready for Bricks LA, next year.
Millennium Falcon was the most famous spaceship amongst the Imperial troopers: elusive, mysterious, unpredictable and fast, boy, was the Falcon fast!
Little known fact: For the Imperial attack on Hoth, the troopers briefly practiced catching the Falcon with a flying scale model of the real thing. TK-24/7 was very proud of his job as the only trooper skilled enough to fly the target Falcon.
Actually, I just happened to hear the David Bowie theme song from The Falcon and the Snowman (a John Schlesinger movie, 1985) on radio today. I couldn't pass this.
Cool shot from a Star Wars MOC I made for season 2 of the Fox Company collaboration on Youtube, you can check out both the season 1 and season 2 episodes there.
My episode takes place inside Hoth Echo Base where the Rebels are trying to escape with important Rebel documents.
Built August 2017.
Shoveling snow on Vaders TIE-parking seemed to be a good job on Hoth... till the day the rebels discovered Vaders secret ski-resort...
inspired by a true masterpiece:
As Captain Solo makes his rounds on the frozen ice block of a planet he stops by a small encampment for field testing equipment.
These shots are inspired by what Scarrviper's been doing with his Rebel troops lately, though I have to settle for Aussie Snow rather than the real deal.
"The Force Awakens" fever has struck me in an unexpected way: I'm picking up vintage Star Wars figures I had as a kid. These three came together, so I did a shot that makes about as much sense as the Empire having a base on Hoth.
The fleet is growing. About 1/3 done with two more ATAT's. Still hoping to be all done entire MOC by January
This was a whole lot harder than the other skeleton I did recently. Mainly because I wanted to get it to support its own weight and get it as close as I could, dimension wise, to the original Lego Taun Taun.

After finding a suitable safe shelter in the cavity of a rock, snowtrooper special forces unit SSF3298 set out to explore more of the strange exposed surface.
The Great Hoth Heat Wave has awoken another new species. SSF3298 have discovered ginormous footprints. After measuring the displacement of soils and depth of the print, they were able to calculate the weight of this new, never before seen beast at approximately 58,967 grams. Scales of magnitude larger than the Wampa, it could quite possibly be the largest creature the empire has encountered, if you don’t include the Exogorth (space slug).
But where is it...!? 🤔♂️
