At first glance I thought I saw an apparition of Honest Ed Mirvish on the pedestrian walkway, but on closer inspection I realized the figure was not wearing a suit. In all my times seeing Ed Mirvish when he was alive, he was always wearing a suit. The dress code at all his restaurants was suit and ties for gentlemen after all. After 68 years in business, the iconic Toronto bargain warehouse will close its doors forever December 31st.

when i teach meditation, i describe the practice as honest yet gentle. it's an honest look at whatever arises--no turning away from unpleasant discoveries. yet the practice is also gentle--again and again, with tenderness, return to the present moment.
this honest-yet-gentle mantra applies to most of life: stay open, see clearly, be true; and in that process, treat yourself and others with kindness.
To be honest, this is not a very natural image. I did a lot of lightwork with LED and reflektors, and i made serveral shots form different perspectives and with different aperture, then took one for the background and one for the fungus. So this is two shots mixed up, but from the same place in Kellerwald-Edersee Nationalpark, Germany.

You've probably seen this before in the comments for one of my other photos, but it's taken its place on my photostream now. To be honest, I only uploaded due to this description. I didn't want to just upload some text. Granted, I could delete it, but I've been meaning to upload this photo for a while now...
If you've noticed, I haven't been posting as much as I do regularly. This weekend I was overwhelmed with busyness. I did find time to think about it though. I came to the conclusion that I should take a short break for this month. Invest a lot of time in my studies and really hanging with my family. And baking and making stuff for people. All of that is very time consuming, ha. So I think I should take a break from my little world of photos.
Another thing is that I've completely run out of ideas. I'm not really good at taking pictures of moments and pretty little things. I would rather leave that to people who have special eye for those things. I do have one more idea, but I'm probably going to save it for the day before Christmas or something.
Since I'm taking a break so I can focus better on, well, you know, "life", I probably won't be on flickr nearly as much. I'll still be around to comment and favorite photos here and there.
I love you, guys! :D! And I will miss you all so very much <3

Farewell to Honest Ed's which has closed after 68 years in business, and hello to new developments in the year 2017. The site will be redeveloped into residences and new retail space.

I first met Mohammed Harib (lammtara) in 1999 when we studied together in the states. Back then he showed me a sketch of 4 characters from the UAE and said “I will make a cartoon when I am done”. I was happy for him but never thought it would become true. Today and after 6 years FREEJ was officially announced and his dream is now a reality. I salute him for his courage and determination as he proved to me and many people of this generation that dreams can come true, and we can be who we choose to become. It gave me great pleasure to have shared his dream and lend my voice for one of his characters (UM ALLAWI) when his demo was in production, but sadly due my engagement with school abroad, I won’t be able to further assist. Lammtara is a man of dreams, diving into many fields. A role model that all of us should follow. I look forward with anticipation for his animation next year on Dubai TV.

You guessed, yet another insane and crazy day in the land of work. So, standard. I was actually hoping that it would be a quieter day today as the majority of the staff were away this morning, but things never quite go as planned and those who were there seemed determined on keeping things as chaotic as usual.
At least the days go by quickly, now if only I could find a way to make Friday show up faster. I'd have it made then!

A purple flowerhead on my perennial (I hope) Honesty Plant, scientific name Lunaria Rediviva.
Wikipedia tell me the Lunaria are a genus of flowering plants from the family Brassicaceae, native to central and southern Europe.
We, like to many, are in Covid-19 lockdown so it has to be out with the macro lens to send you the few flowering gems in my garden.
