Today I helped my daughter with her homework. While she was working I was thinking how hard is to be a kid. It is really insane the amount of work they have to do and it is not always easy to understand what is being requested. I sometimes wander if the textbooks are seriously reviewed or if they are written in a rash just to get them finished. Sometimes that is really the impression they give. Kids are the ones to suffer from that. It's really not fair.
I remember when I was his age..., and I don't have a very good souvenir. I wasn't really good at school and I suffered a lot. I suffered alone since I don't remember my parents helping me at it. Yes they did try helping me by heaving a teacher coming home after school to help me with the homework; that didn't really work. I guess it helped liberating them of that pain, but didn't liberate me. What might have really helped me was more of their time and more patience as well. But my mother had to deal with three of us and my father was never at home until late in the evening. I would say that my childhood was dominated by the sense of loneliness.
I guess it is natural to most of us to try giving our kids what we have missed when we were young. I guess this is why I like spending time with my kids and I try helping them as much as I can all the time. But I sometimes think if they miss something, if by trying to give them what I lack, I don't see what they really need. I often think what will it be they will try to give their kids because they are missing it now.
I wonder if it is really possible to give them what they need to have a happy and fulfilled childhood.
It is really hard to be a kid. It is really hard work!
even the high schoolgirl & her friend could not believe how fast this kid was doing his chinese language homework.
i was both impressed & envious.

An example of the directions I wrote up for my daughter's educational aide. We had flashcards on black paper amzn.to/1aMLxRP with spelling words written on them in neon pink or green. Then we had black dry erase board amzn.to/1GnwXgv to write the changeable factors on in pink or green fluorescent dry erase markers. amzn.to/1KruYuE It is much simpler now with the jpg and iPad usability.

coloring is not his favorite thing to do...especially when he has to do it! he prefers to draw or write his letters and numbers...for a left-hander he writes very neat.

Today was Jenna's first homework assignment. She is happy now but we will see if she is still smiling after 10 years of homework.

This is supposed to be Madi doing her homework. The phone started out sitting next to her on the couch. Then within just a few minutes it moved to resting on her belly. Apparently it was too much work to reach over to grab it.
