This is a diptych of a typewriter and a computer. I liked the feeling of old versus new that is commonly explored with diptychs, so I tried to show this in the context of a student's homework. The editing of both photos consists of simple adjustments.

I uploaded a picture of daft punk. Then i photoshopped it. Then I printed it. Then i built Tron'ish frames to it. Then I used blue flashlight and took a picture. Then I photoshopped that Tron logo to the picture. Here's what I got.

It's usually a battle, but since Teeny came home with her new "Learning Log" (basically a big pink homework book under a new name) it's been less so. Today she had to show she understood non-chronological reports (!?) so she wrote about the Arctic Fox, found some pictures of them on the internet and decorated her page with icicles, which is what she's drawing here.

Another day of not doing much of interest. K took les enfants swimming this morning while I ran. I followed my 10k trainer and managed to cover 12.1k of which i estimate I ran 9k of, so I was pleased. In the afternoon we went to a 5th birthday party which was noisy and not fun. Then home for homework, grocery shopping online and some CBeebies.

Day 182 of 365.

Finny is is Grade 3 this year and the whole approach to homework is quite different to Grade 2 - though reading, naturally, is still a major component.

He's a fantastic reader. He absolutely tears through books. Hand him a new Zac Power, Pokemon or Captain Underpants and he'll finish it that day. I was the same. And I love that he loves books the same way I did as a kid.

Uninspired or just tired, the sofa is not the best place to tackle homework

Susan took this picture to prove Greg DOES homework...it was better than writing it down on a calendar

Sunday brought with it book bags and homework, "Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check," and an extension task for each of them and reading Journal work for Sam and Joss.

Ben seems ridiculously young to be doing formal homework. I know we didn't do even spellings and times tables til at least 7, but he loves doing it and it's not hard to get him to concentrate.

so this is a record of my boy, half scholar, half little one - look at that pudgy, toddler esque hand - growing and learning every day.

it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

The street was nicely lit, & I took a few pictures of my hand in my room to match the light.
