Since these two houses I am posting today are private residences, I'm afraid I can't give you much historical information. This one is on Franklin Street, a stones throw from the beach. Secluded behind that hedge and fence is a superb example of an early Georgian homestead, complete with verandah. These verandah's were very important ways of cooling houses in the warm summer weather.

The photo was taken October 17, 2021, while biking in the backcountry of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. I couldn't resist stopping to admire this old homestead place, still largely intact.

This is a very popular old homestead in the Mission Valley. I am not sure how many days it has left, but I'll keep photographing it as long as I can. :-)

Well this canyon has been on me to visit list for years. I finally had the time and conditions to visit. There was a ranch at the bottom called Pothole Ranch and in 2024 a major landslide blocked the river. When in released a major flood came down washing the 1890's homestead down the river destroying a piece of history... Kris...

A people who do not love freedom and truth—their end is totalitarianism.
I am a true Gemini inasmuch as I like straight photography but still love painting them afterwards. The original is also only a few photos back from this one if you care to compare.
Done with an iPad app glaze and one other that I can't remember. iPad doesn't affix names that I would use to identify. Ya hearing me Apple?
The last time this location was visited, four feet of snow challenged even moving a few inches into a position for composition. It's good to see that warm temperatures have finally arrived, but in short order, we'll be complaining about the heat.
Thank you for all the fav's, comments and your visitation.

A second bath with highly diluted ECO developer saved the lights and killed the color.
The clouds were simply crazy on that particular day. I am not sure how long this homestead will continue standing, but it is always a joy to go and visit and imagine what life was like back then with that open sky all around.....and not much of anything else.
Linda and I just got home from three days at Jackson, Wyoming and Grand Teton National Park. We were too late for good fall color but we had a great time anyway. These buildings were the Thomas Murphy homestead located on Mormon Row, now a historic district within the National Park. Murphy laid claim to the land in 1908 and took title in 1915. The background is part of the base of the Grand Teton mountain range.
Forgotten farm in the foothills area of south central Nebraska. Later,my Dad told my uncle was born here. My Dad grew up about a mile from here as well.

A Chicago-bound Norfolk Southern hotshot kicks up some fresh powder as it curves past the old train station in Homestead, PA. On the NS Monongahela Line, the Pennsylvania Railroad station was built in 1906 on their Monongahela Division. On the National Register of Historic Places, the station still looks the part but is now only used by the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office.
