The lattice decorative detail made the living and dining rooms feel claustrophobic. They were easy to remove--I did that myself, as well as patching the archways.
What you can't see in the picture: The living room, dining room, and entryway walls were covered in two layers of wall paper, which had then been painted over. I spent so very many hours steaming and scraping (and cursing), until I finally vowed to never, ever wallpaper a room. Ever.
J and Kitty modeling the bedding that inspired the wall color. You can't tell, here, but the bedding actually has multi-color striations.

HOORAY!! Josh is finally working on the Kitchen! That dinner I was promised might actually take place in 2008...
I got a call from the window contractor yesterday asking me if I could bump up my installation date to today. Hells yeah. Someone must've cancelled last minute. I wasn't even on the schedule yet. Their loss is my gain.
I don't have a before shot of the old screened-in porch. The screens were all torn, and the exterior walls were in various states of disrepair. But I didn't want to get rid of it, because I love a screened-in porch! So, this is the new one.
Here it is with everything new: appliances, paint, flooring, cabinets, counter tops.
A note on the flooring: Ken turned me onto the fact that they make really nice looking vinyl plank flooring these days. In addition to being more affordable than hardwoods, they're easy to install AND waterproof, which I really like for a kitchen, bathroom, or basement.

I loved this little room for some reason. It was the smallest of the 3 bedrooms, but I was drawn to it somehow.
The close-up of this carpet gives a pretty good idea of the condition of the house when I first moved in. Great 'bones', though.
