Gorgeous hardwoods and freshly-painted walls.

To complete the modernization, we had frameless shower walls installed, and a new shower head. And, of course, a paint job.

A major makeover leaves our homeowners in awe and confessing, "It's like a brand new house!"

New carpet, a fresh coat of paint, and a new hanging light brighten the room.

A major makeover leaves our homeowners in awe and confessing, "It's like a brand new house!"

I can't get enough of the stacked-stone fireplace! We don't like to put unnecessary holes in the walls when staging. I imagine the new residents have warmed the place with photos and pictures that have special meaning to them.

"Every member of the HYBA team found happiness as they made an international team effort to beautify a home for the poor, something they’ve never done before."

This was a perfectly functional tub and shower. But the tub was shallow, and I didn't really love the look of the shower insert. So I replaced the tub with a deeper one, got rid of the insert, and tiled the walls.

Another view of the kitchen from the eat-in. We replaced all lighting fixtures in the house, including this outdated swag chandelier in the eat-in.

I fell in love with this house the second I saw it.

The steps here are concrete. You can see that over time, it smooshed down so much as to create a really bad tripping hazard on the top step. (Seriously, everyone tripped over it. Not ok.) The very first thing I did was to replace those stairs.

I hope these will pay for themselves when I sell the place, but who knows. In the meantime, I'll enjoy cooler summers, warmer winters, and lower energy bills. Goodbye space heater, goodbye portable a/c unit, goodbye drafty house.

Here's the long view from the end of the house. You can see how the color, lighting, and materials choices work together to create a cohesive and truly unique look. What a transformation!

Don't let those walls fool you. It is white paint, but it's on top of two layers of wallpaper. And the carpet was a dark blue and had seen better days.

Shooting a Bedroom (two, actually - her little sister's will be done too) Makeover for an eight year-old girl who is the Colorado "Children's Miracle Network Champion".

Delightful child, nice parents, great crew, and fun job! Remodel two bedrooms and a bath before they're home in 36 hours. Strip wallpaper, paint and tile. GO!

Renovating the kitchen at my sister's house.

Step one to a successful renovation: a green shirt...

My new living room ready to be painted.

It took me over 5 hours to prep the appartment. I'm not touching another roll of tape for MONTHS! ;-)

This Niagara-On-The-Lake home received a complete exterior makeover from pressure washing to weatherproofing to painted finish. These homeowners had Old School Painting transform every inch to give their property a nore modern look.

Again, this is an old Alexandria, VA house. No matter what they show on The Walking Dead, the kitchens don't come big. This one had old everything: appliances, cabinets, sticky-tile flooring, etc.

Haltom City Home Makeover 2009

This is what we couldn't believe. Not only was the entire porch around the house 2 SOLID FEET THICK of concrete (wayyyy too heavy), but the part by the kitchen door and the back steps was 3 SOLID FEET deep of concrete. In addition to that, Monkey Family had just poured concrete over the previously existing wooden steps so they were embedded within the concrete making it even heavier on the house's foundation. The demo guys honestly weren't sure if they were going to get it out of there. We were told this was "one for the record books."

It's never a good thing when the guys with 20 years of experience look at you and say, "We've never seen anything like this."

Half bath off the kitchen.

What you can't see in the picture: The floors of this add-on half bath felt like they were going to crumble under your feet at any minute. In retrospect, I'm surprised it took me 3 years to do anything about it.
