Voilá "Holiday Bokeh"
Found a small bottle with an old scotch whisky, that was a nice surprise and that small bottle deserved a very sparkling bokeh !
Thanks Janet www.flickr.com/photos/janettowbin/ for the great idea with the aluminium foil, it helped a lot with the bokeh :-)

- Holly and Christmas
Before holly was hung in houses to accompany Christmas trees, it was considered to be a sacred plant by the Druids. While other plants wilted in winter weather, holly remained green and strong, its berries a brightly colored red in the harshest of conditions.
The Druids regarded holly as a symbol of fertility and eternal life, thought to have magical powers. In Druid lore, cutting down a holly tree would bring bad luck. In contrast, hanging the plant in homes was believed to bring good luck and protection.
When Christianity came into Western Europe, some people wanted to keep the greenery, to give it Christian meanings but also to ban the use of it to decorate homes. The UK and Germany were the main countries to keep the use of the greenery as decorations.
- Here is the Christian meaning:
The prickly leaves represent the crown of thorns that Jesus wore when he was crucified. The berries are the drops of blood that were shed by Jesus because of the thorns.
In Scandinavia it is known as the Christ Thorn.
- In pagan times, Holly was thought to be a male plant and Ivy a female plant. An old tradition from the Midlands of England says that whatever one was brought into the house first over winter, tells you whether the man or woman of the house would rule that year! But it was unlucky to bring either into a house before Christmas Eve.

More holiday bokeh! If I keep this going I might have enough photos for a Christmas series :P This is a photo I took of a Christmas wreath and some snowflake decorations :)
And I decided to throw in some text too. Even though it looks kinda lame.
Please do not use without crediting me or informing me first. Thank you.

For this week’s Macro Mondays ‘Holiday Bokeh’ theme, I have chosen to photograph some small hand knitted Snowmen. The hand-crafted snowmen always make an appearance at this time of year.
The pom-pom snowballs adjacent to the snowmen are also hand-made, using wool that is wrapped around two small washers! For the ‘snow’ I used a white faux sheepskin rug. The background is simply a ceramic Christmas tree lamp and crunched up aluminium foil, sufficiently displaced from the foreground subject to create the bokeh effect.
The lighting for this shot is somewhat mixed. The overall lighting is daylight through a diffuser panel, with approximately 3 seconds of ‘light-painting’ (using a small torch on the foil background) during the exposure.
I'll be taking a short break for the holiday period. Best wishes to my friends and contacts for peace and a better 2018.
Happy New Year to all my Flickr friends!
Wishing you the best in 2018
Thanks so much for your support in 2017
Peace, my friends.

Macro Mondays.
This week I chose a little Santa that we hang from our tree every year. I stood him on a chair using the xmas tree lights for our bokeh.
HMM everyone and have a great xmas.
Had a few goes at Bokeh shots this week before settling on this image. Bought some cheap tree decorations, because I liked the red car with the tree tied on top, used several backgrounds, and finally settled on some clear Christmas wrapping paper on a black background with a cheap set of lights stuffed into a jam jar for extra effect. At the end of the week I will be driving home for Christmas to my wife's Dad. Happy Festive Season and HMM
My MM post today is a photo of a Maltese Christmas ornament, in memory of my beloved pet, Elvis, whose last day on Earth is today. He brought me over 13 years of happiness and unconditional love. He will be missed. Run free, LV.
Another image taken with my new vintage lens Petri C.C. Auto 55mm f1.8. Typical California yard decor this time of year. 😂
Not that many images taken with this lens can be found on Flickr, so I started a gallery for it. In fact, I made a gallery for every vintage lens I own, which is just 6....for now.. ;-)
