Porthminster Beach is just one of five beautiful sandy beaches within St Ives, which is why there are few rivals for the crown of Cornwall's best beach town.

I sat here for about an hour waiting for the first light of the morning sun. I liked the subtle colour in this pic.

Polperro (Cornish: Porthpyra, meaning Pyra's cove) is a village and fishing harbour on the south-east Cornwall coast in South West England. It is situated on the River Pol, 4 miles west of the neighbouring town of Looe. It is well known for its idyllic location, surrounded by tightly packed old fishermen's houses, which makes it attractive to tourists, particularly in the summer months.

Looe, the Cornish for which is ‘Logh’, meaning deep water inlet, is a small coastal town and fishing port in south-east Cornwall.

In medieval times there were two towns on opposite banks of the River Looe. East Looe includes the fishing harbour, the main shopping centre and the sandiest beach. West Looe is quieter, but also has shops, restaurants and hotels, and leads to Hannafore with its fine views of Looe Island. The two towns are now one, joined by a bridge across the Looe river.

Wadjemup Lighthouse, Rottnest Island, Western Australia

The original lighthouse was completed in 1849, the original 20-metre (66 ft) Wadjemup Lighthouse (also known as Rottnest Island Light Station) was Western Australia's first stone lighthouse and was built to provide a safer sailing passage for ships to Fremantle Port and the Swan River Colony. A second and larger replacement tower was built on the same site in 1896. It is the fourth oldest extant lighthouse in Western Australia and was Australia's first rotating beam lighthouse. Rottnest Island is the largest and northernmost of several islands near the Port of Fremantle. The lighthouse site is at the highest point of the island at Wadjemup Hill, with the tower base 45 metres (148 ft) above sea level. Tenders for the new tower were accepted in October 1894 for £3,237 4s. 9d. and construction commenced in March 1895. The foundation stone was laid on 25 April 1895 by the Premier of Western Australia, Sir John Forrest and included the placement of a glass bottle in a niche in the stone, containing newspapers, coins and copies of plans of the new lighthouse. Wadjemup Lighthouse was converted to automatic operations in November 1986 and is currently operated to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. It is a popular tourist site with volunteer guides offering hourly tours of the precinct and to the top of the tower with information on the site's history. There are 155 steps to the top and the tour offers spectacular views of the coastline around the island and back to the mainland around the Perth metropolitan area.

Rottnest Island is 18 kilometres (11 mi) off the Western Australian coast, very slightly north of due west from Fremantle. It is called Wadjemup by the Noongar people, meaning "place across the water". The island is 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) long, and 4.5 kilometres (2.8 mi) at its widest point. Rottnest Island has been a popular local holiday destination for over 50 years. The Western Australian vernacular diminutive is "Rotto". No private ownership of land is allowed. The island was given the name "Rotte nest" (meaning "rat nest" in the 17th century Dutch language) by Dutch captain Willem de Vlamingh who spent six days exploring the island from 29 December 1696, mistaking the quokkas for giant rats.

A Colombian girl walks to the school in front of Santo Toribio Church, located in the colonial walled city, during a sunny morning in Cartagena, Colombia. With the peace agreement, ending a 52-year civil conflict and promising political stability, together with rapid economic growth and unexploited tourism potential, Colombia has truly become a holiday destination. Cartagena, a UNESCO World Heritage site on the tropical Caribbean coast, plays the primary role in Colombia’s tourism renaissance. The historic sites from the Spanish colonial times are being restored, private investments are visible throughout the city and an increased number of local people benefit from the boom of the travel related services. © Jan Sochor Photography

When the weather gets hot, the Cornish cool down by throwing themselves into the sea from harbour walls.

Porthleven is a town and fishing port near Helston in Cornwall. The harbour is the heart of life in the town, with fishing boats plying their trade from its sheltered waters.

The harbour, which is the most southerly UK port, is unusual in that it is rare to find a southwest facing Cornish harbour opening directly into the prevailing winds. Porthleven's development as a port was always hampered by the orientation of the harbour entrance and it would have remained a small fishing inlet had there not been an overriding need, during the early nineteenth century, for a safe haven to which ships could run in times of distress along Cornwall's lee shore.

The impressive structures that form the current harbour complex date from the Napoleonic war, with French prisoners of war being utilized as a labour force to construct the harbour. The buildings around the harbour and Porthleven beach are mainly a mix of traditional fishermen's cottages and net lofts dating back to the 1800s.

Today, Porthleven harbour is a more relaxing environment catering for the needs of the holiday maker. Boat and fishing trips are available from the harbour, and cafes and restaurants line the harbourside.

Porthleven's Beach is located adjacent to the harbour, just east of the large granite pier by the 'iconic' Porthleven Institute and clock tower which dominates the harbour entrance. As the tide goes out, a large three mile long shingle and sand beach is exposed, running along the coast towards Loe Bar and the Penrose Estate.

Tramandai beach is probably the biggest holiday resort in south Brazil. During summer time the town gets absurdly packed and this pier is the one of the meeting points.

South Brazilian cost is formed by miles upon miles of sand beach. Some of them are still almost intact and you can see along the coast this marvelous sand curves formed by water and wind.

This particular day I went there with my dad. Woke up 4:00 to get there and get the sunrise. We actually arrived just 7 minutes prior the sunrise so most of the pictures end up being black and white (ouch!!!).

I have been thinking about doing some changes in my photography and I have been looking around quite a lot more recently. I will take me somewhere, that is for sure. Stay tunned.
