Stretching from the northern side of Sopot to the Gdańsk district of Brzeźno, this combined walking and cycle path runs for 10km alongside sandy beaches and a maze of trees and trails that form a nature reserve.

This delightful outdoor museum was the next stop on our road trip to Telemark and back to Sandnes.. The vest-telemark museum is adjacent to Eidsborg Stave Church. In a beautiful forest setting, the old traditional buildings are a fascinating insight to the architecture that is uniquely Norwegian.

I absolutely adore the landscape and forests of southern Norway.

The Royal Palace of Venaria, located just outside Turin, was built in 1675 by Duke Charles Emmanuel II of Savoy as a grand hunting lodge and summer residence. A masterpiece of Baroque architecture, it was designed to showcase the power and refinement of the House of Savoy, with vast gardens, opulent halls, and an expansive park. Abandoned and later restored in the 21st century, La Venaria Reale is now one of Italy’s most spectacular cultural landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage site, symbolizing both the splendor and resilience of Savoyard heritage.

The Jacob Grafius House is a Federal-Tuscan Transitional style two-story Flemish bond brick dwelling with a symmetric facade similar in treatment to the L. A. Mackey House. The end gables contain twin chimneys connected with a parapet, and have triple windows at the peak. The most outstanding feature of this building is the highly decorated frieze which has floral designs between closely spaced brackets.

The Royal Castle of Pollenzo, was transformed in the 19th century from a medieval village into a refined royal residence by King Charles Albert of the House of Savoy. Designed in a picturesque neo-Gothic style, it served as a private retreat for the Italian royal family and a symbol of Romantic-era architecture. Today, part of the UNESCO World Heritage site 'Residences of the Royal House of Savoy,' Pollenzo also hosts a university dedicated to gastronomic sciences, blending royal heritage with culinary tradition.

Visited the Hearst Catle during the memorial weekend, and was very impressed by the design, architecture, and the POOLS!!!

The architecture was just amazing to see, and the tour was quite awesome too...although I was way too busy in taking photos, rather than listening to our excellent tour guide's introduction...:-)

Work on the pier has been completed, and this includes the addition of a marina which reputedly cost €11 million and which now provides Sopot with moorings for around 100 yachts, as well as a full support network of chandlers and marina management.

Kiyomizudera (清水寺, literally "Pure Water Temple") is one of the most celebrated temples of Japan. It was founded in 780 on the site of the Otowa Waterfall in the wooded hills east of Kyoto, and derives its name from the fall's pure waters.

Ward Memorial Theater is located on the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Grounds in Milwaukee, WI. The theater portion of the structure was constructed by a German American architect named Henry C. Koch in 1881. The building was originally used as a two story multipurpose building. It included a restaurant, place of worship, train passenger waiting room, and a post office. In 1897 the building was completely remodeled to be used specifically as a theater. Later on the theater acquired projection equipment as the cinema industry became more prevalent.

Today the theater has been committed to being restored as a section of the roof has been completely redone, while further restoration efforts are still in the works.

It is located on the east side of downtown Toronto and comprises "the largest continuous area of preserved Victorian housing in North America", according to the Cabbagetown Preservation Association.

The Royal Palace of Turin, seat of the Dukes and later Kings of the House of Savoy, stands at the heart of the city as a symbol of political power and artistic patronage. Originally a medieval fortress, it was transformed in the 17th century by architects like Carlo di Castellamonte and Guarino Guarini into a magnificent Baroque residence. With its lavish staterooms, grand staircase, and adjacent Royal Armory and Chapel of the Holy Shroud, the palace served as the center of court life and state affairs. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a key part of the Residences of the Royal House of Savoy, reflecting centuries of dynastic ambition and cultural refinement.

Racconigi Castle, originated as a medieval fortress and was transformed in the 18th and 19th centuries into a royal residence of the House of Savoy. Expanded and adorned with a romantic garden by King Charles Albert and later King Victor Emmanuel II, it served as a favored retreat for the Italian royal family and stands as a symbol of Savoyard elegance and political heritage.

Bern's Zytglogge illuminated in the blue hour after sunset.

The Zytglogge (clock tower) is one of the landmark building’s in Bern, a former city gate on the western end of the old town.

The tower was built in the 12the century, but was destroyed by fire in 1405, after which it was used as a prison for prostitutes.

It was fitted with an astronomical clock made by Caspar Brunner between 1537 and 1530, which figures mechanical figures – including a parade of bears, the symbol of Bern – which process around the eastern face of the clock four minutes before every hour.

The clock played a part in Albert Einstein formulating his Theory of Relativity. He was working as a patents clerk in the city and lived just down the road from the clock. When he was travelling away from the clock on a tram, he theorised that if he was travelling at the speed of light the clock would appear to be stuck at the same time while his own watch ticked on, proving time was relative.

This image is of Fort York in Toronto. Unlike Fort Henry in Kingston, the Citadel in Halifax, and La Citadelle de Quebec, Fort York is completely overwhelmed by the City it once protected. It is a modest structure that defended the Town of York during the War of 1812 with the United States.

The Fort is made up of a series of simple structures made of wood, brick, and stone that is surrounded by a berm.
