Bobby Bird (HIA) was clearly enjoying his set. The sound system on this stage was phenomenal - super clear, crisp, and loud! The bass shook my pants at times. Quite a treat!
"Dream Higher"
This was one of the lockers in Bishop Hall. I very much want to design one. I love Taecyeon, who played Jinguk in Dream High; not to mention his role in 2PM. This also reminds me of Victor Kim's (my third favorite guy) Banksy girl on his bedroom wall. It's not unusual I know that.
Dartmouth Higher Ferry. This town at the mouth of the River Dart has been an important seaport since the early Middle Ages; in fact it was from Dartmouth that English fleets left to take part in the Second and Third Crusades.
The naval heritage of Dartmouth is preserved in the Britannia Royal Naval College, sitting high on the cliffs above the Dart. The college has trained officers of the Royal Navy since 1905.

HIGHER MOOR ROAD, LITTLE CARLETON TO HIGHER MOOR FARM, GREENLANDS, BLACKPOOL
Higher Moor Road commences at its junction with Blackpool Old Road opposite where the 6th Form College is now built. The eastern section of the road is open to vehicular traffic to access various industrial premises; beyond which it’s then only accessible for horses, cyclists and pedestrians. Originally at a point approximately 33 yards west of where vehicular traffic ends the road turned sharp right and continued in a northerly westerly direction for around 110 yards before turning east and continuing to Higher Moor Farm.
When the railway opened from Poulton-le-Fylde to Blackpool (Talbot Road station) in 1846 it cut right through Higher Moor Road immediately north of where it turned sharp right and it is presumed that a level crossing was provided at this location or possible a small under bridge high enough to allow a horse and cart to pass through it. See 3 notes on the photograph.
Unfortunately the OS 6” map published in 1847 showing the newly constructed railway does not show any road names although it is interesting to note that back then Higher Moor Farm (1813) was spelt “Moore” (as was Lower Moor Farm).
DIVERSION OF HIGHER MOOR ROAD, CARLETON – 1866
In 1866 twenty years after the railway was opened it was rebuilt to double track and the existing Higher Moor Road LC/UB was replaced by a new overbridge approximately 140 yards west. The diversion of the road to the new bridge is immediately south of and parallel to the railway and these days it has a tarmac surface.
The 1866 bridge is officially known as Bensons Bridge and on reaching it the ‘new’ Higher Moor Road turns sharp right to cross it and then continues northwards across a field known locally as the Horse Field until reaching a small bridge over a stream and a gate beyond. It is believed that the section from Bensons Bridge to the gate was originally cobbled setts/stones (since removed or covered over). As you walk north the large pond on the left hand side is known locally as the “Big Pit” it has been there since at least the early/mid 1800’s. On reaching the gate the road reverts to its original route in an easterly direction to Higher Moor Farm. The old abandoned section of the original Higher Moor Road can still be clearly seen today 155 years after it was last used.
In the 1950’s and the 1960’s some local residents called the section of Higher Moor Road from Bensons Bridge to Higher Moor Farm Kellets Lane. Bensons Bridge was also referred to as Kellets Bridge and Higher Moor Farm as Kellets Farm. In early 2014 the original railway bridge was replaced with a new one as part of the construction works for the electrification of the Preston to Blackpool North railway line.
LOW MOOR ROAD, GREENLANDS, BLACKPOOL
Low Moor Road commences at Higher Moor Farm and continues west until joining Bispham Road opposite the Squirrel P.H. in the Greenlands district of Blackpool. On the 1847 map this area is referred to as Forshaw’s Hill although later maps show Forshaw’s Hill further north along Bispham Road.
I admit there may be some mistakes in the above notes and I would appreciate any further information along with seeing further historical photographs regarding this area of Carleton. One question I have is where was the Mink farm located?

This mine was originally Spearne Consols, but was absorbed by the Levant Mine in 1877 and became known as Higher Bal. It lies beside the road from Trewellard to the Levant mine. The engine house contained a 35" cylinder Cornish engine.
On some days I feel fear, I grow afraid. I am scared whether things will go as per plan or not, whether things will go wrong and awry, whether I will lose my pursuits to dreary mistakes.
And there are lots of things to do and too little time.
But then I remember the words of my college friend.
He says that fear is good, shepherds us to higher truths.
Let the clear stream of reason fill me, my Goddess and let me learn from your river and move forward, despite falls and narrow gorges, through forests and plains.
Let me just move forward, wherever I am, my Goddess and let me soon merge with the sea of higher truths.

Higher Education building. I like how this came out... The grain, and the perspective, and the framing.... and my bad english!
