when we made it to the summit, things cleared up some and we got this view over the other side of the mountain. so breathtaking! on the right is 'the knife edge' - we'd originally planned on hiking up that way, but because of campground logistics, ended up on the abol slide instead. given how windy it was, probably not a bad change in plans.

Thunderstorm in the distance atop High point NJ

The three of us (me, Michael and Jeff) atop Mt. Whitney, around 12:30pm.

The trail continues along the backside of all those spiky needle peaks seen earlier. This is looking back from the direction we hiked.
