Anyone that didn't see this coming doesn't know me very well.
I like her much better with crystal hair than fiber hair.

At my grandma's funeral My cousins and i went for a short walk to the nearby souris river. We went there shortly after the funeral itself, and the short break was welcomed, to me at least.
Lake Ontario is currently at an all time record height and lots of places are experiencing flooding. This image was made yesterday (5/13/17) at one of my favorite spots. These old pier pilings are almost underwater. Go back through my images to last Fall and you will see just how high the water is now. via 500px ift.tt/2qG7gXz

HWW Happy Windows Wednesday!
Actually it's Stadium High School in Tacoma, totally freaked when I saw the Solar Halo and this is all I could think to do to get it. :-)
I have a better view of this amazing school and I'll add some of it's incredible story on Friday.
On my way to Chinley, I spied a single track lane that disappeared steeply and jaggedly up a hill, and so, decided to take it to see what kind of views would be afforded. Finding a place to park off the road, I walked to the nearest footpath and this is the view that greeted me. The crepuscular rays lasted just long enough for me to set-up my camera, snap a few shots, then were gone.
A black and white edit seemed to work better in this instance.
This shot is taken from the high point of an impromptu hike in Death Valley National Park. We were looking for a place to camp for the night near our planned hike the following day. I was aware of this road that the vehicles are parked at (they are at the end of the road), but have never driven it.
This little road is tricky to spot and is located off highway 178 near Jubilee Pass. We drove down just far enough to find a legal camping spot and hiked from there. We did not follow the road to the end where the cars are parked. Maybe we should have, because there seems to be something down there drawing people, but looking at topo maps, I can't figure out what. They may be just camping, as you can see a couple of tents scattered around, if you look carefully. I've marked two with a Flickr Note.

I believe that is Funeral Peak way off in the distance, about 12 miles away.
Taken in DuPont State Forest in NC
In terms of visiting falls? This is my new favorite. DuPont SF is absolutely gorgeous, and the hike is mostly level and just the right length to feel like you got a workout (about 0.6 miles).
This is the rare waterfall that is just as beautiful frozen in time as it is taken in long-exposure, likely because the water does not fall so much as slide in waves. I may process and post one like that in the future (when I'm bored and out of new photos haha).
I did not go down toward the base of the falls because I was on a schedule, and I don't like to do anything I'm really uncertain of when I'm alone. But next time!!
In 1989 me a my buddy flew to Chicago in the dead of winter. Although the weather was cold it was mostly clear during the our trip. It was an incredible trip and we added numerous railroads to our list of those photographed.

I hadn`t anticipated how far I had to walk as I had planned to be lakeside at this point .... just a bit short
It's only a drive by shot from a moving vehicle, but the difficulty in farming this terrain is immediately obvious. I cannot image walking (climbing) from one terrace to the next to plant, tend and harvest the crop.

The Deeps at Ogmore by Sea are wild when there's a storm running. The waves thunder into the blow holes and produce these fantastic water spouts. I struggled to get them in as I had my telephoto on to keep the spray off the lens.
Shot recently in the dunes nearby Den Helder in the Netherlands. I had some doubts of making the photo due to strong winds as seen in the movement of the clouds. Everything was moving but then I decided to make the photo anyway, mainly because of the scene and beautiful light.
Shot on 4x5 Velvia50.
